Hello everyone. This is my first post. I enjoy this site. Lot of knowledgeable people here. Hopefully this is the right spot for this question. I have a 55 Customline that I had to take apart the dash. I now need to replace those hard thin black plastic strips between the side pieces and the dash and between the steering column cover and the column. I'm not even sure what the proper name is for them. Where can I get them. I don't see them at MAC's or the other sites I normally check. Thank you.
Here are some pictures of what I'm looking for. It's the black plastic or hard rubber insulators that go between the different trim pieces around the windshield and between dash side cowls and vertical trim pieces. I'm not sure where to buy them.
You can get a ton of information by joining this Social Group here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=332 Also send this member a pm: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/member.php?u=70276 He has the Ford Parts Manual on CD-ROM dirt cheap with that you can look up the factory part number Google search it and find them also included is the Illustrated Parts Manual this shows where every part is located and a blown up picture of where it goes.
Once you can identify the parts by name or part number give Ron Johnson a call @ Ford Restoration and Parts - 303-506-1866. He has a huge inventory of vintage Ford parts and will have the insulator strips you need for your double nickle.
The piece that goes along the dash is called "Windshield Post Garnish Moulding To Dash Rubber Welt" It should be about 86" long and goes from pillar to pillar. The part number is B5A-7003127-A. The piece for the column is called "Steering Column Bracket Cover Insulator" and the part number is B5A-3683-A. I would recommend getting that parts cd the JeffB2 mentioned.
