Event Coverage Atlanta Speed Shop Nostagia Drags Points Series

In the continuing effort to create more ol' school nostalgia drag racing venues in the Southeast, Julius Hughes and the Atlanta Speed Shop has initiated the Atlanta Speed Shop Fuel & Gas Points Series, culminating with the Atlanta $10,000 Nostalgia Drags and Car Show.

Since there are so many HAMB members in the southeast who show such huge support for the Atlanta $10,000 event, it has been decided to create this thread dedicated to all of the upcoming Points Series events. In other words, this will be the singular "go to" thread for all Atlanta Speed Shop drag racing events except for the Atlanta $10,000, which will carry it's own thread.

So ... all info (rules, schedules, etc.) and event coverage (photos, stories, etc.), as well as questions and comments for this series will be posted here.

As with the Atlanta $10, 000, the success of these events will rely on all of our input as racers and/or spectators. This is a golden opportunity for southeast HAMB members to have more events for meeting up to race, hang out, and show our cars.

2014 Scenic City Thunder and Nostalgia Drags

April 25 & 26 @ the Brainerd Optimist Dragway in Ringgold, Georgia, just south of Chattanooga.

"The first race will be the Scenic City Thunder and Nostalgia Drags. The race will be April 25-26 at Brainerd Optimist Dragway in Ringgold, Ga which is just south of Chattanooga. Friday night is a test and tune and is $10 to spectate and $20 to race. Saturday is the race and we will start qualifying at 10 am. They are running a Pro Mod show as well and qualifying for it begins at 11 am. Their bracket program will chime in at about 3 pm. Nostalgia finals should be about 6-7 pm."

will you guys be having a swap meet space at the ringold ga event. I would love to set up and sell some old car magazines since it is only 30 miles from the house.

 

Sorry to take so long to address your question. Julius is still negotiating with the track owner to allow a swap meet. As for now, the answer to your question is no, but that may change. Keep checking back.

Just talked to Leonard Lawson from Brainerd Optimist Dragway. He is finishing the flyers up and will have them out in a few days. He says the new all concrete track surface is rubbered in good and the track is tight. Remember there is also an 8 car Pro Mod show during our event.

Also talked to Ronnie Buff from Shadyside. We will be having a Car Show, Car Corral, and Swap Meet during our event there on July 10-11. If you go to the Shadyside website don't be fooled by the absence of info on their home page. They have a problem with updating it that they are working on. They have a message board that is more current. All the info you need is on our website anyway.

Any info available on the points series ? How to sign up,how are points counted etc..

Racers have to join Outlaw Fuel and Gas Racers for $25.

Points are awarded similar to NHRA Sportsman. 10 points for registering, 20 points per round, 1 point per qualifying position.

I went down for the test and tune last night. we are still putting road miles on our wagon getting it ready for our annual "Guy Trip" to Bowling Green for the HHR.

i SAW SOME CARS LAST NIGHT THAT WERE PRETTY COOL AND SOME THAT WERE OBVIOSLY THERE EVERY WEEKEND. i POSTED SOME PICS OF SOME OF THE COOL ONES.

SOME WILL BE OFF TOPIC .
I WOULD LIKE TO GO AGAIN TODAY BUT I WILL BE 30 MILES NORTH IN CLEVELAND TN FOR OUR 1ST CAR SHOW/ SWAP MEET OF THE YEAR. IF THE WEATHER IS AS GOOD AS YESTERDAY EVENING I EXPECT BETWEEN 6 AND 7 HUNDRED CARS TO SHOW UP.
