I surely removed this from 1930 chevy at Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona 10years ago.
    Probably it's Saginaw steering box.
Though I rubbed a worn gear together, it is not smooth.
And, there is not no clue for rebuilt gearbox or rebuilt kits.
It is smaller than Vega and 32 Ford steering box.
And my Hot Rod cannot put on a big gear box any more.
Although I have seen this by some 1930s to 1940s Auto repair manual of Motors by chance, it is difficult to find here.
I don't have Auto repair manual of Motors...

Help! Does any of you have the info?

Buy a lottery ticket as you will have a better chance of a big win than finding any new parts for that box.

Bearings are bearing if it has ball or roller bearings your local bearing supply should be able to match the old ones. A bushing may have to be machined for it though.

The gaskets you could cut from gasket material.

I can't help on the worm and sector gears if they are too worn to use though. Matching them may be difficult at best.

How about a reversed Corvair box; It would sit right on top of the frame as your stock box does.

I can get bearings and seals easily here.
However, I want to find this worm and sector gears.
When I posted about this on FB, the guy named Frankie said that I have new one.
I am waiting for info from him.
And, my friend Dave found the following links.
    http://www.vapinc.com/chevy/Steering Parts/main.html
If Frankie did not have it, he told me to check here.
However, I might not be able to pinpoint a worm and sector gears.
    Thanks

Model A steering box has nearer size and shape.
However, I want to try that I find rebuilt kit or rebuilt box of this.
I found the pic of the steering box of 1934 Chevy truck in web.
Probably this is the same one.
    Thanks

    Thanks Rocky,
I just watch some gears in ebay.
However, I can't choose my parts.
Can you pinpoint my worm and sector gears by my manufacturer's name cast?

Look here for the "identification" numbers, you might or might not be able to find them.

if you look for 262944 you find that it's a 1936 FB

With those casting numbers it does look like a 1936 1/2-1 1/2 ton steering gear. Is the casting number on the other part of the housing 260367?
The first 2 ebay links for the pitman shafts are correct for that box. The worm gear shafts are not correct. The original part number for the worm shaft should be 261489.

It's not listed so I called them, they do not have that one. I would keep checking ebay, I saw the $500 one which seemed a little high priced. Good luck with your search.

It's listed by Buy it Now and free shipping.
However, I have no choice but to look for others because $500 is too expensive...

You may also check out VCCA site. Someone may have the correct part.
There are a bunch of great guys over there (though they are not particularly hot rod friendly).

  25. Tano,

Put a post in the Termites and Bowties thread as well- you might find someone who has an extra!

Some stuff to look at if you cannot find good parts...this article, though it is about Model A, has a good section on refitting worn gears and also a section on bad bearing races:

    http://www.abarnyard.com/workshop/steering.htm

That is something to keep in mind if no good parts appear.
In this article, it was done because the rebuild parts available for the Model A gears were of poor functional quality...I understand that Bratton's can now supply functional ones.

Also...how about a Model A box?? Similar in size, and it could even be modified to fit into the Chevy mounting bracket, I think. Cheap, lots of parts available.
VW bus might be another similar small box.
