Anyone have a part no. or know the model, year etc. of the Volvo oil filter that fits small block Fords but is only about 2" long" I have a real clearance problem with steering clearance on my friend's 34 Ford with a 289.

  2. This one is from a 1968-1984 Renault. NAPA #1335. Works just fine. I did this about 20 years ago on a guys Jaguar XK120 with a Ford V8. He never had a problem. Dean

Ford also had a 90* & 45* oil filter adapter - I believe the 90* is still avail from Ford Motorsports or SVO or Ford Racing or whatevery they're calling themselves these days...

Good stuff guys. Any idea on the part no. for that 90 deg. adapter? That looks like it would work great!

I run the filter from a 1988 Toyota 22r motor on my Y-block instead of a Fram PH8A. Same bung, same gasket size, just a smaller filter. I'll run out into the parking lot here at work and get the number off it in a few minutes. I had to change mine because of the steering as well.

I don't know exactly how tall it is, but a 60's-70's MOPAR spin on filter is about 1 3/4 " shorter than a Fram PH8A, Motorcraft FL1A, or a Wix 51515. Short Wix filter is 51068. By the same token if you have a MOPAR with lots of room you can substitute the taller Ford filter.

Thats the one I used. I only needed that extra inch clearance but wanted adequate volume.

I prefer oil filter relocation and full sized filter.
