    Coming soon to San Antonio and points South East..

    The Hot Rod Bustle Moonshine Run - December 6th & 7th 2013

    The event starts Friday with a pre-party and Christmas Tree Run / Donation at Bexar Bones Garage and continues on Saturday at Texas Pride BBQ with a pre-54 moonshine run, a bunch of bands, and a pre-64 show & "shine". Hope to see all the local San Antonio folks and would love to see some out of town hot rodders make the trip and have some fun "Bustling" with us!

    Friday Night Pre Party information is as follows:
    Location: Bexar Bones Garage @ 4307 S. Presa, San Antonio
    Time: 4:00 PM
    Note: Only 1964 and older hot rods, classics and customs will be allowed onto the premises! All other cars and motorcycles will have to park on the street or surrounding areas.
    Details:The Moonshine Run Pre-Party kicks off with a free movie night. Showing on the screen inside the shop is "Lawless".

    Set in Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, a moonshine running bootlegging gang is threatened by a new deputy and other authorities who want a cut of their profits.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawless_(film)

    Then, after the flick, we will have a Christmas tree run & toy drive through down town San Antonio to Broadway Sports Bar.

    Bring a new unwrapped toy for a kid in need, or bring a new pack of tree decorations, or some tree lights, or "Bustle" along with us to a Christmas tree lot to purchase a tree, tie it up on your old car, & "Bustle" through Downtown San Antonio to drop them off. It's all in fun, but it's all to help out families in need for the Christmas Holidays.

    **No purchase required to hang out on Friday & "Bustle" with us**

    THEN on Saturday Dec. 7th, come out to Texas Pride BBQ for the rest of the Hot Rod Bustle Moon Shine Run.
    Location: Texas Pride BBQ @ 2980 East Loop 1604, Adkins, Texas 78101
    Time: 10:00 am
    Details: The moonshine run is a "Run What Ya Brung" Dirt Track timed event. Teams of 2 (Driver & Passenger) fill 2 crates of mason jars with a 5-gallon jug of water (Sorry, Absolutely, Definitely & Positively NO REAL MOONSHINE allowed folks!). After filling the jars, load up your hot rod and run the track for the best time. Be in the best 3 & get your Hot Rod displayed at the music show for everyone to see (Along with bragging rights, trophies, & prizes). The run is for cars that are 1954 and older only

    There will also be a Pre '64 Show & Shine inside the grounds of the BBQ place for anyone not wanting in on the run or for those who's cars are too new. All other cars newer than 1964 will be parked in spectator parking.

    Besides a day & night of old jalopies and hot rods on the dirt track, customs & classics on display, there will be lots of music, & plenty of great BBQ available!!!

    Bands to perform...
    * Rockin' Lloyd Tripp & His Texabilly Familly Band!
    * The Texas Blue Dots
    * The Octanes
    * Sean Reefer & the Resin Valley Boys!
    * Slick Dickens
    DJ Jive Bomber spinning some real vinyl too!

    Costs:
    Friday night is free, but it would be nice to bring an unwrapped toy, or some tree decorations or lights, or to buy a tree to donate during the Friday night "Bustle".

    Pre-registrants before Saturday: We feel the cars are the stars of the show and the car guys should not pay more than the spectators. All pre-64 cars get in the gates for free. $10 bucks get you in the gates for the show, music events, and you get one moonshine run (if pre-54). The bonus for pre-registeration is that you also score a free event shirt and poster. Another bonus for pre-registration is that you can purchase a passenger entrance at the time of pre-registration for only $5 more bucks. So $15 in pre-registration would gets you, your car, and one passenger into the gates. That also would come with one moonshine run (if pre-54), the event shirt, the poster, and all access to the event music! Additional moonshine runs (to try to improve on your time) would be a $5 buy back for each additional run up to 4 chances.

    Contact us if you are interested in Pre-registering or you can send Paypal to [email protected] (see even the old hot mail email address is period correct to just after WWII), haha.

    Saturday at the event: All pre-64 cars get in the gates for free. Everybody pays $10 bucks at the gates (car owners, passengers, and spectators) which gets you all access to the event music and show. Pre-54 cars get one free moonshine run and additional moonshine runs would be a $5 buy back for each additional run up to 4 chances.

    All spectators are $10 at the gates on Saturday and there is plenty of spectator parking in front of the restaurant. This gets you all access to the event music and car show.

    Please do! It would be great to see some out of town folks drive in for the event and to be able to see some cars we've never seen before.

    One of our friends is going to be a "period correct" cigarette girl roaming around with Cigars, mints, cigs, etc. She is also going to be a flag girl for the moonshine run.

    Another one of our friends' son is going to be dressed as a "period correct" paper boy handing out flyers / schedules / etc. "Extra! Extra!"

    We hope so. There actually was a "Hot Rod Bustle" last September that consisted of a pre-party and a real cool garage crawl through some very nice local garages and then a post party. It went off great but didn't get advertised or promoted very well.

    There was also a "Hot Rod Bustle Christmas Tree Run" in December that generated lots of toys and trees for the less fortunate but again, not too many people knew about it.

    So this year, I'm trying to help get the word out and let people know what all can be expected. Whether a person comes in for both days or for just the one day, it is shaping up to be a fantastic time.

    Texas Pride BBQ has a very nice covered band shell and dance area as well as a clean gravel parking lot out back where the pre-64 and pre-54 cars will be parked.

    Tony from Tx Pride also owns land out to the side of the restaurant where the track is being built specifically for this event!

    Heck yeah, it's going to be a good time.

    I've already had a couple of inquiries about a place to stay the night. Mention "The Hot Rod Bustle" here for a discount, plus it's real close to TX Pride and an easy drive from the Friday night activities.

    The Hot Rod Bustle - Pricing update (Post #1 has also been updated)...

    We think that the cars are the stars of any traditional hot rod show, and we dislike that the car guys, who have already spent their time and money on building or buying these cars have to pay more money to drive them to the shows and park them there for the spectator to see.

    Some of the great midwest shows have already started down this path and we think it's great. We want the show costs to be the same or cheaper for the car drivers as they are for the spectators.

    So the pricing for the Saturday Hot Rod Bustle has been updated to decrease the cost for car guys and increase it for spectators.

    The Friday night pre-party and Christmas Tree "Bustle" is still free. But it would be nice to bring an unwrapped toy, or some tree decorations or lights, or to buy a tree to donate during the Friday night "Bustle".

    Pre-registration before Saturday: The cars are the stars of the show. All pre-64 cars get in the gates for free. $10 bucks get you in the gates for the show, music events, and you get one moonshine run (if pre-54). The bonus for pre-registration is that you also score a free event shirt and poster.

    Contact us if you are interested in Pre-registering or you can send Paypal to [email protected]

    For those that are interested in pre-registering for the Hot Rod Bustle, send a check or money order for enough to cover the following costs or send Paypal to [email protected]

    Note that all pre-registrations must be received by November 29.

    Car = $ Free
    Driver = $10
    First Passenger = $5
    Any additional passengers = $10 each

    Each pre-registration scores the "car driver" a free event poster and button up work shirt.

    Please include the following information with your pre-registration:
    Driver Name:
    Number of passengers: (first is $5, all others are $10 each)
    E-mail address:
    Phone Number:
    Year Car:
    Make:
    Model
    Club Affiliation:
    Distance Driven (not trailered):
    Work Shirt (button up) size:

    Work shirt note: If you have not seen these work shirts, they are very cool. Actually start with a good condition but used work shirt and screen them with the show information using traditional screening methods and inks. They naturally fade to an old look that matches the shirt. It's a look we really like. We find these shirts to run about 1 size smaller than a t-shirt size so if you are a large in a t-shirt, you probably want to order an extra-large work shirt.

    Please mail the information and fees to:

    Bexar Bones Garage
    4307 South Presa
    San Antonio, Texas 78223

    You will get an email or text confirmation when your pre-registration is received and your pre-registration packets will be available at the car entrance gate the day of the show or at the Pre-party and Bustle on Friday night.

    Update on the Hot Rod Bustle...

    There are still some hotel rooms available for those of you that plan on staying Friday Night, Saturday Night, or both nights. Be sure to mention the Hot Rod Bustle to get a discounted room rate.

    We've added a Paypal method for those of you who would like to pre-register from afar and score the free work shirt and poster. Send to [email protected] - see, even the hotmail email address is vintage, hehe.

    We're looking forward to a cool & fun event for everyone that comes out to join us. The venue itself with the grounds, buildings, petroleum memorabilia, tattoo shop, game room, and all the antique stuff is cool when there are no cars there. Add in all the pre-64 and pre-54 hot rods and customs that will be there and it's sure to be a blast.

    Were also very proud to announce that "For Our Country Motor Sports Magazine" will be at the Hot Rod Bustle covering the event. This focus of this magazine is dedicated to supporting our troops through it's support of "Operation Homefront" and the "Wounded Warriors Program".

    Check out their web site at
    http://www.forourcountrymotorsports.com/

    We are really looking forward to the Bustle and hope to see you all there!

    Yesterday, Abraham from the Barons Motor Club took his period perfect banger powered 29 roadster out on the track and gave it their blessing...

    We were really bummed to see that the Hot Rod Revolution was cancelled. The weather at this time of the year can be like rolling the dice. Thankfully at Texas Pride BBQ, they have a very nice covered area where the bands will be playing, people will be dancing and we will all be hanging out after tearing up the race track.

    Here is a link to one of the bands who will be playing Saturday night under the covered band stand. The Lloyd Tripp Family Band!

    Just a reminder...
    Friday night 12/29/13, when the ol' clock strikes at midnight... Pre-registration will turn into just plain ol' 'Registration'. No free 'screen printed' work shirt or poster. We will, however, be selling tees & posters for $10.00 ea. at the event.

    We've had a few pre-registrations, but just the other day we received one from a gentleman from Indiana. He is a winter Texan but he will still be making the 4 hour drive up from McAllen, TX with his '32 Ford Panel Delivery.

    We also have a car club from Laredo making the trip to support us. These guys are ready to bustle! I really hope San Antonio & the rest of Texas is too. It's gonna be one hell of a fun time!
