Car Shows, Slat Flats, Drag Racing, and Family Photos Pre 1968.... I was going through files on my computer and I came across some neat Pictures that I've collected searching the net... reminds me of Jonny Cola..
Keep 'em coming. I love vintage racing photos, too bad I don't have any to submit. Our partner for the race team has a shitload though, I might see about getting some of them scanned onto a disc.
this is about to get looooooong......hambrs are cold and bored......yes, not including you west coasters for floridians!!! one of grandpa's........I know the dates on the photos say different, but he didn't develop them until later from the 50's- sportin' a SBC.....i think this is the one from the 30's...his first flatty from the 50's- this car was traded in around 59 or 60 to a friend....friend drove it about a week, parked it in the barn where it still sits today.....I would sell my wife and kid for it! ....hydraulic brakes, 3/4 flatty, low rear, he calls them "big digger" tires.....man i love this one!!!
Had them on before but if you missed them here they are again. One is late 53 the other is from Convair Field Allentown Pa.Aug. 55. I got a little older but not smarter, still love rods.
from the 30's...his first flatty Hey! A fellow chicken lover! I have 2 shop chickens (banty roosters). Lunch and dinner - They are a blast to have around and I haven't had a bug, fly, or mesquito sinse they came. Tip I took from Bobby Alloway. Took a while for Hot-Rod (my black lab) to used to them, but now they sorta get along. Awesome pics Flat!
You're right... that is one handsome looking fellow. Here's a couple of my dad's survivor roadster. A drag car with too many olds motors.
Heres a couple links to some old pics from Checker Flag Speedway here in Windsor. Spent alot of my childhood there. http://www.piczo.com/windsorscheckerflag?g=5936587&cr=1 http://www.piczo.com/windsorscheckerflag?g=14839379&cr=1
Hey Evel, the second pic of the 32 roadster you posted was taken by my dad in '64! Photo was taken at Riverside Raceway in Melbourne, now long gone and home to the Wetsgate Bridge. A while back when cleaning out my grandmothers house, i found a bunch of my dads old mags and stuff from the 60's and 70s, that photos were still in the pouch from new. Here are a couple more, off my website. All of them are from late 36 to early 65. Ash Marshall's Dragster Channeled 34 Sedan Eddie Thomas' dragster Check out the wack 'Tunnel Ram' on the 34 coupe! The roadster in the foreground was found a couple years ago, and is back on the scene exactly how it was 40 years ago!
Great stuff. It is also clear that no one wore cuffed jeans way back when... I may have to make a trip to the Gap for some cackies to be "era correct"
Aztec and green watson style pics originally posted by JimA. Also some pics posted by other HAMBers. Jimmy B, the other half of your pic (KC customs)
Boyz in da' Hood ? ( or if your from England "blokes in the bonnett") Imagine my suprise when I open this thread and see the old Inkster boys This picture was taken in like 1961 in Inkster Mi. that kid on the right front is Larry Hensley, I seen his brother tonight. Here is one that ought to freak you out, this is my old friend Frank's car in 1954, the guy in the car was a friend of his,.... they were off to the lake to score some dames ! ever seen that car before ?
The cuffed jeans comment was funny, I also noticed in a lot of old photos that flattops were the rage. I am supposed to get copies of a bunch of old Autorama photos from the 50's, I will post them as soon as I get them.
