Does anyone know anything about this race car? Its built on a 29 DeSoto frame, and is powered by a Ford Flathead.
I'm told it was built in WA in the late 40's by a man named John W. Cambell.

    Appretiate all info and/or pics.

    Thanks,
    Erik Jostad

Very nice find! Is there a door on it? Looks like it was built for SCCA Sports Car racing. Back then the cars had to cary a spair tire, this one has a side mount. You also had to have a door that a box or suitcase of a certain size had to fit through. If you know the area it was built in check for SCCA race tracks, or airports were they set up race courses. Erik, did you end up with this car? Doesn't it have a tag from a car show somewhere on the body?

    Guys,
Thanks for info, keep it coming!

It seems to be an old Ford Special racer. We had the Special-class in Scandinavia too in the 40's and 50's, called the Nordic Special. It later become the Grand Prix/Formula 1.

Mike; I'll keep the car just like it is. It has a really great patina.

Chris; Yes, I bought it. It has a couple of tags from some motor/car shows in 1960 and 1976. Dont know if they were put on later, or really belongs to the car.

Bob; It doesn't have any doors, but you'right about the spare wheel carrier. It also has a full Belly Pan, so its obviously built for speed!

Good looking car, Eric. Are you able to drive it on the road in your country?

No further information, I'm afraid, but this does need to be posted on the Specials thread.
