Boothill express... where is it now.?

I was just thinking about the "Boothill Express" earlier and seem to recall it was sold in an auction in about 2009.. would any one happen to know what happened to it after it was sold and where it is now.. ?

 

I hope it's buried in "Boot Hill" as I never did like that thing !!!! LOL

 

I'm not sure where it is now. I saw it at the Kruse auction in Auburn several years ago. I built a model of it when I was about 12 and thought it was the cat's ass. It brought back good memories just like it's supposed too.

 

These old show cars are a bit of an aquired taste , especially as a lot of them where static displays and never designed to work , but.. a lot of imagination went into them to make a bizzare creation that blew peoples minds in the 60's and 70's. I personally love them and have been lucky enough to be involved in the restoration of one of Barris's and Bob Reisners... but the "Boothill Express" to me is the daddy of them all..

 

BootHill Express is the Shit!!! I get excited see the stocker they have at Knott's Berry Farm in Anahiem, CA

Is there more than one of them? Year back we had a local show < 500 cars and there one year was Boothill Express, I remembered it from the Revell model kits. I chalked it up to the guy that ran the show being connected to the racing community....they had a few other strange cars but Boot Hill stood out.

 

I was reading on the web that 3 were produced by Ray and his team in the 60's due to popular demand of the hearse at shows.. the other 2 were fibreglass replicas , one of which was a runner and used down the strip.

I was at Knott's Berry Farm in the early '90s , and recall the hearse you refer too tucked away under a barn.. I had just built a model of the Boothill prior to my CA visit .. I take it that hearse is still there..?

 

Boot Hill Express, if you don't think that is cool there is something wrong with you. pretty cool looking when you consider other show cars of the era

 

I saw it a year ago at the Speedway motors museum. They had the it and all the documentation on display. I don't know if speedy Bill bought it or not but that's where it is.

Yup, I saw it at Speedway two years ago as well. Not sure if it's the "original" or one of the stand-ins though.

 

well I'd like to see it all I have it the original model kit......I think it very Cool....I like most all the 60s customs......

 

Not THE Boot Hill Express but along those same lines from the Street Machines Nats circa 1980 or so...

 

Now, everybody can build one in 1/25 scale...
Check out your local hobby shop in a month or so... It should be on the shelves by then...

boy it sure looked better with the old tire/wheel set up. 15" 12 spokes in the front and some moddest size skicks in the back. who put on those wonky over size dragster size tires on it? the shot of it on the track is how i remember seeing it in the 60's. much better proportions.

 

This is the replica Boothill That was built for racing , compared to the original below... it just doesnt look right , what with the roll cage wheelie bars and chute.. and apparently didnt handle to well...





Best left as a show car

last time i saw it was at the stae fair in the 70s. biggest thrill of my life. i was about 10 at the time.
seems it comes up for sell every 10 years or so.

 

Boothill Express, Lil Coffin, and Dragula. they were my all time favorites as a kid. i still have all 3 model kits.

 

got the first to but not Dragula(orginial)

 

Love that car and all the sixties show cars. They took us away from the everyday mundane sheep and belly button cars.There is nothin like stretched imagination to add spice to life.

 

Here is the Original "Boothill Express". Located in the historic Bird Cage Theatre in Tombstone Az.
The Black Mariah hauled the fallen from Tombstones streets to Boot Hill in the 1890's . This thing is wicked cool to see in person. It would make a good show car but the folks that own it think it's worth about two million bucks.Just thought I would throw down a litttle trivia for ya.
