As henry29 said, that is a 37 Ford Ashtray. Has the wrong knob on it though.

Looks like one for a full flavor......menthol ashtrays usually arent chrome.....

It looks like the one for my '37 Ford but it would probably be a good guess that Ford used the same one for several years. The knob on mine is correct and the two vertical accents show it is for a deluxe car.

Looks like you have a good start there. Most builders start with a cowl or a tub, but good luck on the build !

It's 37 only, 36 and 38 both had a different dash.
