Hello fellow H.A.M.B.ers!
As some of you know, my friend Chris and I are making the trip to Bonneville this year in our Model T's....my '26 Roadster: ..and his 1917 speedster: Unfortunately, a mutual friend of ours who had offered to drive the truck and trailer rig (for support in case of the worst) could not get the time off and in this late date, have no one to replace him. So he and I will be making the trip alone with no support. We most likely won't need it, but you never know and while both cars are all new....they are also mostly untested. This bring me to the reason for this Thread. We are taking mostly older highways (for the drive and not to get run over on the interstates) and want to ask if there are any H.A.M.B.ers along our route that might lend us a hand should we run into trouble or need repairs? Our route will be : Portland to Salem via I-5, Salem to Burns, OR via Hiway 22/20, Burns to Winnemucca, NV via Hiway 78/95 and the final stretch to Wendover Via I-80. Anybody along the route that would be willing to help if we run into trouble?

Take my cell number 734-673-6930
Call day or night if you have an EMERGENCY and I will do everything in my power to get you the closest HAMB person, or friend of a HAMB person I can.

Thank you so kindly! This is the sort of thing that makes me love the H.A.M.B. and the people here. I don't anticipate any problems, but it is nice to know that there is someone out there we can come to if we do have an emergency.

No wi-fi, you can't buy a magazine at the gift shop and no room service...they want you spending money gambling. Bullshit. Across the street they have free wi-fi at Montego Bay....!!!!!!!!! I don't gamble, don't have any use for it, but I do love down loading my photos each night and putting them on the HAMB. But in 2010, I felt like I dropped off the face of the Earth. By the time I got home, I had 2,000 photos to go through and by then "Speed Week" was old news. and the Bay has a good deli so you don't have to spend time at a restaurant type joint. http://www.wendoverfun.com/restauran...eli/index.html The manager at the Nugget said that if I wanted wi-fi service I could hang out at the Pilot truck stop.....gee, no thanks... See ya there.... You may want to join this discussion. I believe many of us will be trading cell numbers..... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=703866

FYI
There is alot of lonesome country out across southern Oregon and northern Nevada. The interstate down through Idaho is alot more HAMB freindly .And quite a few of us go to the salt .Something to think about . |

Pinman and Squirrel make some good points. Boise to Wells Nev. to Utah offers alot more help if needed.

I was just trying to let them know what it's like, not trying to dissuade them. You get the full effect of old time driving, being out in lonesome country. It's neat.

What we want is a good route without allot of hills or steep grades or fast traffic that might kill us.....just want to cruise and have a nice trip. Which Friday?...the 10th or the 17th? Would LOVE to come!
