I recently got a real no kiddin' barn find '64 Falcon. I advertised in Wanted here on the HAMB for a few things and got a reply from a James Floyd. He tells me he has every part I am asking for but no pictures, and gives me one price for all shipped. He wants only western union payment. No address given, no phone number. So this is setting off some red flags for me. Does anyone here know this guy, and tell me if he is OK? P.M. me please. Normal Norman

I think there needs to be a sticky in the wanted section warning people of this a-hole.

  4. Yea no reason to put in in the bad sellers list if he keeps changing his screen name.

There should be a sting setup with Interpol and this ass wipe should be put in the Graybar Hotel for an extended stay!

A lot of these scammers seem to come out of the UK. Maybe some of them are trying to get even for that little misunderstanding in 1776 !:D

I just had a scammer send me an email in regard to a couple of Mustang bucket seats I have on CL. Here is what he said :

    Hi,
I would have just come over to pay and pick it up, But I'm going on a trip.
Therefore, I will instruct my Secretary to prepare and mail you a Money
Order and I assure you will get it within a week. An extra $20 will be
    added for the delay.
So all you have to do now is to email me your FULL NAME, MAILING ADDRESS
and PHONE NUMBER. The pick-up will be effected after you must have received
    the payment.
I will be waiting to read from you.
    Thanks

    Don

I think there should be a minimum amount of post a person should have before being allowed to post anything for sale, or have access to PM's.

  13. No pictures, no deal. That will stop a lot of scammers right there.

The only thing worse than a Shit-bag, is one with a hole in it!!!! Although maybe a hole is exactly what the doctor ordered, right between the eyes.

  18. Good thing your spidey sense was on alert. I agree, better standards are in order to sell on the hamb, but the turds will figure out a way around it.

When they pull that, I have them send the checks to:

    Mayor Mark Mallory
    801 Plum St. Rm 150
    Cincinnati, OH 45202-1979
    Phone: (513) 352-3250

He has got 20 or 30 of these fake M/O's and is wondering why??? LOL, I called the FBI, THEY DON'T CARE, so, I have fun screwing with them..

Wouldn't work. They would "welcome" new HAMB members until the limit was reached - or a few "wows" or "awesomes".

I bet it would slow it down some, also you can look at everyone's post
to see if they contribute here or just randomly post nonsense.

Most scammers are just looking for something to make quick easy money on,
they will not put a lot of time or effort into anything.

I think that in reality the authorities are dealing poorly with scammers that hit people on a million dollar scale, so it is not likely that anyone is going to deal with someone scamming parts on a website. Although I like to think of myself as a "cash and a handshake" guy, the reality of the internet is to only make payments thru Paypal or some other protected method. I'm frankly suspicious of people who still ask for money orders instead of paypal, even though I have had 2 perfectly fine MO transactions. The point is, it is a risk with anyone you are not dealing with face to face, but if a payment company or credit card company is willing to refund a disputed charge, that is simply the best way to go.

This opinion, by the way, comes from someone whose attorney general, the person most directly responsible for prosecuting fraud and scam artists, resigned his position due to a prostitution scandal. Your government authorities are just as corrupt as this asshole.

  25. Uh, he was Governor when he had to resign, FWIW.

'Caveat emptor'; no post history, Western Union. If it's too goo to be true, it is.

Trouble is there are a lot of Nigerians now in the UK. I went back for my sisters funeral and didn't recognize the place, only been gone 7 years but I was probably the only Brit on the bus in my local town.
