I hope it's a little cooler this year. The drags were nice but the next day was a scorcher! Great deal though. Lots of great cars. Lippy

Made it last year, but this year, other things are happening that I am pretty much stuck with. Looking forward to '13.

I'll be there for sure. I will be shooting hot rods, kustoms, and models. If anyone wants some shots of their car or if you are a model message me. Hope to have my 34 Pickup there this year.

To me there are two "have to attend" events in the MidWest. The Lone Star Round up
and Kustom Kemps of America's Spectacular in Salina. We will all be there this year the plan is too drive up early Thursday morning. I can't wait to get up there....

Salina and the Stay Kat 500 are my two favorite shows. Will be looking for the cookies for sale at the Poverty Flats tent. Showed up too late in Dewey.

I really want to be there if it isn't going to be a cooker like last year. I can't tolerate the high heat due to a medical condition. It's a super show at a great location, but I wish they'd change the date...that area in late July can be an oven. It has been 100 degrees plus this week. We'll see. Buford

Will be there again this year with at least two other friends bringing their cars. Love the hand drop drags on Friday night. Doesn't matter if you win, lose or draw, just smoke em and get back in line again. Both George Barris and Gene Winfield have been down the track in my 40 the last couple of years and they have fun and really enjoy the crowds that show up for the drags and car show. Great location in the new park with cruising and lots of spectators. Doesn't get any more fun than this. Be there................

I will be there. I love that old strip, my father took me there in the 70's to watch sunday afternoon racing. I hope all the PRO cars that come can keep them under control, with no safety tech or inspection if someone gets hurt, they will close that thing down in a hearbeat. It is all for fun ya know, if you want bragging rights, take it to a real drag strip.

Hotel rooms confirmed for Salina and couch confirmed for Lincoln along the way! Still putting in long hours to get the 46 on the road for at least 2 weeks of driving to work and back before the long haul.
Really looking forward to going this year and with a car this time, actually dreamt about it last night haha |

My buddy Ken and I will be there. Leaving Indy on Tue, hook up with Ken in St. Louis on Wed. Bringing his primered, red scaloped 49 Chevy this year instead of my 47 aerosedan. Staying at the Quality Inn off 135 on the west side of Salina. You can't miss the two old drunks in their parking lot in the evening.

Myself, along with several other "Rusty Nuts" from Butler County, KS will be there. I may drive my '34 Ford Coupe. My "51 Merc Conv" however, "will not.!". Regretfully, I have not received my front-end parts from one of our Alliance vendors. Hopefully, 2013 will be the year for my Merc and maybe even my wife's '47 Chopped Ford coupe (which is also in the works).

For you guys and gals that are first timers get ready to see the coolest Kustoms on the plannet. Don't miss the Thursday evening parade of Kustoms and hot rods .What a blast,I was surprised to see how many towns people showed up last year.Go to the rod shops open house and the drags. Ask at registration. YEA it will be hot, always is just drink lots of water and take it all in. We have been to 5 Salina Leadsled shows and am sorry to say can't make it this year ,so you guys have a blast for me. My car at last year KKOA is on you tube interview with Dennis Gage - you tube ( Rick Coast on My classic car).

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the fresh builds that are going to be there. dolsen37's green Merc is sahweeeet! I even enjoy looking at some of the same stuff that I've seen before, cuz I never tire of looking at traditional kustoms. Love 'em mild to wild. I'll be bringing a trunkload of used shiny stuff to put in a 10 x 10 swap spot. Stop and say hi.

Going down Thurs, does anyone know if they are going to let people park on the east side of Oakdale park this year? I hope they open it up again, lots of shade over there. I heard the first year folks ran over underground sprinkler heads so they roped it off last year.

If you live around the mid-west and don't stop by this show sometime you have really missed a good time. Four of us loaded up in one of the guys 55 Chevy and went cruising on Friday night and I swear to God it was just like high school, (fifty years after the fact). Several of us knew each other from those days and talked about what we had done back in the day. The sad part is that a lot of the guys we ran with then have met their maker already. Makes you appreciate still being around and playing with the hot rods.

If nothing is available in Salina they might try and see if any rooms are open in Abilene Kansas. Its only about 20 miles to the East.

I even have a couple of grandsons coming up from Oklahoma to join me on Saturday. Gotta get them interested early. Rodshop |

My son and I are coming in early Saturday morning, and have to return same night to work next day. 57 is jacked up, literally, so I will be in the daily driver. Got the engine started about 2 weeks ago using a dixie cup for a fuel tank and a short hose to the fuel pump. After a quick scare from a carb backfire and being near the battery, I ordered a new stainless steel fuel system from gas tank to fuel pump, and a new pair of underwear.

Had a fun time at the KKOA show yesterday. Hung out with Gasser Louie, GrouchySS and his lovely wife Cindy, Poverty Flats, Tsquared, and a few others. I saw an almost endless amount of cool, old-time looking cars. Went to the Friday night drags, made one pass with my '31 Ford, and headed for home. All in all, a great day.

Thanks! It's a ton of work but it's worth it when people dig the shots and when others decide that they HAVE to make the show the next year

How often can you say that you seen a gennie 32 ford coupe, with a 427 holman moody side oiler power plant? Not too often you find a deuce with the powerplant valued more than the car itself.F--kin awsome! Hands down my favorite car of the show.

I've uploaded the Saturday pics now too, they start with this one of GasserLouie's ride. Click it to go to the gallery and see them all.
![]() I'm heading to the park to shoot some more now. Sunday is always a small day at the show but there are usually some choice rides around. I'm really wishing I would have fixed the A/C though....

I was headed back to the show sunday and the fuel pressure reg stuck, the front carb caught fire and burnt my air filter out.
At that point I was thinking the magnesium valve covers on the cammer motor might be a bad idea !! I got the fire put out backed the regulator off a couple turns , changed the plugs and drove it home 150 plus miles the 427 runs great but the holley blue pump/regular has to go,this is the second time its let me down hated to miss the sunday show but it sure nice to be home!

Well it was another great show! I wish more customs showed up. It seems that every year less customs show up. dont get me wrong, There where some very nice customs there. Its a shame that we all have to get old. I know that some of the older customes dont show up any more because the guys that own them are getting where they can't get out as much.

Ahem, you ain't talkin' about what crawled up on the concrete barricade, are you? That was very distracting, made it hard to watch the racing action. Not that I'm complaining. I can't post a pic, but it is forever etched in my mind.

During the awards Jerry said 1700-1800, but I don't know if he had a hard count or if he did if he'd actually announce it. :-)

Thank you Jerry and Devona Titus and their crew for all of their hard work. This years
Spectacular was one of the best. For the guys that have not been to a KKOA event you are missing out on what out hobby is all about. The show is a social event and I have meet so many kool people that end up becoming part of my family and that is priceless. It was hot, But the park is full of shade so your able to walk around and stay out of it. The quality of Kustoms and Hot Rods were some of the best I've seen. Be sure to check out www.royboyproductions.com for the event coverage. For the guys that didn't go you missed a kool show. Happy Trails, Mick
