I don't know the details, but apparently he is putting some super tall power plant in the old car and lacks about 2-inches of hood clearance. H... Add two inches to the entire top of the hood where it needs it and then let it drop gracefully back to the front and rear. If that makes any sense.

I like scoops, but will agree that the Italian cars look the best.
On a fat fender maybe a small reverse in front of the scoop before starting the opening. Would be hard to do and keep it looking correct. |

Are you sure Clarence doesn't own a '38?
Hard to beat the look of the Tbird scoop. Last edited by Phillips; 05-30-2012 at 10:28 AM. |

Running out of room for the blower/carbs in your Coupe?
![]() I like the look of #11 and #12 and think something like that could be pulled off.... ![]() ![]() Plus, a scoop like one of those would pull a little of that Doane Spencer Thunderbird feel that you've mentioned before ![]() http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=10237 Malcolm

I'd lower the engine 2 inches.

I think it has a small ford in it. Car like that needs a bad 312 or a cammer.

I would be for seriously looking at a smaller profile carb, spacers, intake mill, lower profile air-cleaner, or moving the airbox to the side, whatever it took to modify the engines topside, to stuff it.

Just do the Stone, Woods, and Cook thing and let 'er breath...
(of course you've gotta know the rest of the 'theme', 'flavor', 'character', 'style', whatever, of the rest of the car in question) What looks good on "A", might look like crap on "B". (know what I mean Vern.....)

Need more info. What style car? Hot rod? Street rod? Could he pull off a surfer style scoop with a relief cut in the hood?

I'd say run a stylish shaped blister like grimlock urm
Kevin lee's roadster had. Could look at blisters made in hood sides to clear hemis in model A's and B's for inspiration? |

hood bubbles are good too....would match the profile of the tops of the front fenders on a late 30's Ford.
