Well, I just thought I'd move some junk around in the garage and take some pics from some different angles to make it look like I was actually working on something.

Just kidding, I put the body up on end to clean up some of the underside details and it reminded me of the "monolith" from the movie "2001 A space odyssey".

I worked on the underside, got my $99 Cabela's boat tank situated, and started on the interior console piece, along with putting in the tranny tunnel. I got the body put back on the chassis thanks to Frisby and his brother (I only need to take the body off and on about 4 more times guys!) I also took some time out for a few cocktails and went up to see how Frisby was coming on the spacetruck II project.

I hope to have the lander running and in primer by the pileup. We'll see, the primer will probably happen. I am waiting on an intake setup from suedesled, he seems to be getting a rash of abuse lately. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he can pull through soon. That is the last element that I need to get her running.

Hey Aaron, I hope you can get that thing running by the pileup. That would be seriously kick ass.

I have something for you to ponder. You've spent so much time and effort on that car. I think your gas tank choice falls short. A plastic tank in a car that you built from nothing plus nothing doesn't cut it for me. I realize the pileup is a month away, and ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I think you should seriously consider building a gas tank this winter that fits the car better. I know you're more than capable.

WWDD (what would Dio do?) :D

Make a few more and you'd have Stonehenge.

Always dig the Luner Lander updates. Thanks for posting.

You forget that there is a decklid over the top of the tank. No one will ever see it anyway. I'm cheap like that, and it won't rust. It is the exact same tank that I ran in the spacetruck, so I know it works.

Also, My buddy Russ works at a collision shop. He says the only tanks he ever sees rupture are the steel ones. Since it is about 6 inches behind my back it makes me feel a little safer as well.

wwdsd (what would Daryl Starbird do)? Ha Ha Ha

Besides mine is certified by the US Coast Guard!

Yeah, I know but, how's it going to look when it gets photographed for all those magazines? What would Royce's rpu look like with a plastic tank? Don't be a cheap bastard, be a true artist! You know I'm just giving you shit, but I'm serious too. Details make the great ones great. You're 90% of the way there.

Besides, if you get hit hard enough to rupture the tank, the car blowing up will be the least of your problems...

It's really starting to come together!!! I was a little suspicious about the plastic tank myself, knowing that the car is not gonna be a cheap piece of shit, but since it's gonna have a deck lid...
No reason to doubt the visionary!!!

I have a whole new outlook on Kustom Kars after going to the Starbird Museum and seeing how they did things "back in the day".

I would also like to see Royce's RPU driving down the interstate. That is what separates the "great ones" from the "driven ones". Ha Ha Ha

But you know I'm just playing devils advocate and blowing you shit back.;)

"Detailing" the gas tank, 60's style, is the upholsterer's problem.

Damn, that is the best looking '59 Olds I've ever seen.
In fact it's the first good looking '59 Olds I've ever seen!

I was 10 when the '59 came out and already an opinionated little shit then, and my opinion of that car was they should have done the '58 two years....
I thought it looked like a crustacian eyed space alien in the back...
(oh, no wonder Plowboy's car works so well!)
They made up for it in '60 and '61 though...Beautiful cars!

  19. That's my question too.

Maybe I can just drink Jack Daniels and pack light.
