You could do this car a bunch of ways. Through the years it evolved. I did it as an early version.

I am trying something a bit different. Ya, I know you have probably seen someone do it before. But for me it is a something I have never done before. Relief print onto textile. I am going to be using my linoleum block that I print posters with to print onto shirts. I have some layout ideas already brewing that you can look at below. I even did a test print tonight with my letterpress after I finished up some client work. To get a good contrast I and going to experiment with bleach to lift some color then hit it with 3 or 4 colors on the press. Don't know how the finished will work out or if the oil based printing ink will hold with multiple washed so I am going to start testing stuff when I have time.
These ideas are all with existing blocks I have cut for poster work I did last year. They are really close to size also. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is the test print on an old shirt from the closet.

OK- This is a commision & I shouldn't post it but I'm a nut.
18 x 12" of the classic Jesse Lopez '41 Ford. Detail shown. The full version of the artwork shows the car as it was owned by Danny Lares in the early fifties. Prints will include the Barris crest. I plan to do a version of this piece with details as per J.L's time of ownership. Hope you dig it. P.M me if you want a print..

Thanks Cory- I tend to keep chipping away at the details on these major pieces for quite some time, so it will get nicer. I post here at low resolution too, so you FAS cats aren't seeing the finer detail(s).
Unless, of course, you buy a print..

here are some of the contributions that are going to be in the Vintage Torque Fest art Auction - Proceeds going to the Hannah Wells Medical Trust. Thanks SO much for all that have gone WAY above and beyond the call of duty on this project. We wanted variety.....and we got it!!! If you are an artist who has waited beyond the last minute.
PLEASE send your Rat Fink in now. We may still get it in time for the auction next week.

Flying Weasel Garage (aka Michael Geltz) and Biltwell deserve a huge thanks for contributing these to the Vintage Torque Fest art auction!
There are a total of three of the helmets - these are all one of a kind and full of killer detail

ahhhhhhhh, amazing show guys! I cannot even pick a favorite, this week is definitely outstanding!
I myself don't have anything to post yet, because I have to scan the stuff first - today I went to the yearly automotive exhibition, which is the only thing like that in this country, except for car club meetings or stuff like that. Did a lot of sketching and even managed to sell some, too bad I didn't get any pics of some of those, though. Luckily, there were a few on-topic cars, even two street rods, from Sweden and Estonia, so yeah, I'll have some stuff to post. This was some good experience for me, I even made some contacts haha

Got this last week from Dave Collins, it's a Lincoln styling studio sketch from '59 of a T-Bird sized proposal. It's signed "T. Anderson"

I remember doing a "photoshop...to end all..." on this car awhile back. A hearse top version. ![]() I think I ended it all in that thread afterwards...but it was fun fooling around with PS.

Spoggie, I love your work mate and I love Mark Georgette's Fiat, well I did when it was around! Awesome car to watch run, then he would drive it home!

Thanks Doc- yeh, I witnessed the end of that crazy famous Fiat. 'Better to burn out than fade away'!..
Apparently, it copped a popped uni in the slick going 151 in the deep end.

Thanks dudford, aceuh - also check out everyone else's LSRU photos - there are lot's of images of that red 54 out there. I may have more too.
Thanks Slim, jigger, johnny jalopy, TMooreGraphics, beebing (love your hearse version) and anyone else whose comments I may have missed. Truly a lot of sensational art in all categories this week. A couple highlights for me this week: Love those intense B&W photos Koyaanisqatsi. johnnyjalopy - that Jalopy's Hooker Service shirt design is so over the top cool! jeff- that bottom Jalopy Showdown poster is killer! Travis - congrats on that chevy truck phto shoot - the 3rd shot is especially nice. So many other great ones, but it is late and impossible to comment on them all. |

Well there you go, we were there as well! From memory it was after Ballarat at Heathcote Drags? We were just about to leave but I conned my Father to stay there so we could see Mark run one more time, bad move! We were right up near the staging area and didn't see much.

Sat nite Bendigo swap w/e ('86 I think).
What time was it? We were P- plate drunk. Crossed- up start line antics ( including a bullish 180° burnout 'lose') on the earlier passes- something never seen at tough, boot- camp Adelaide! I was at the 300-400-ish ft. mark. Didn't see much- lots of 22:00 & dust & the dark ass of Heathcote South.. T'was the last run- the clean, straight run the car didn't all late arvo/ eve. The track was warm, yes? She looked quick. Looked perfect, away out the back door.. I guess it cork-screwed. The fidelity of memory. Ha! A graphic recall of the sunset burnout;
