My friend Scott just bought this 54 vette funny car body/chassis. We have no info on the car of its origins or the chassis. Any info or old pics you have please share. Also this was a real corvette body that someone stretched and glassed the doors hood etc closed. 2. I can't give you any information on it at all but I can prime the pump for ya. ;)

If it were mine it would see double duty street on high test and track on alchy. OK I'm nutz, but no one has as much fun as I do.

Neat find, but looks like it has seen more than 1/4 mile of bad road. Should be easy to get back to racing though! I have no corvette info, but take a bump outta petty cash for your efforts =D

  4. Wish i had the car before somebody made a mess of it. Only about 1 of 3600....

  5. It may actually be an aftermarket body. Anyway I would hope so, but not being a corvette guy it really wouldn't bother me to make a race car out of one. :D

Id say it is definitely a factory body. In the late sixties I'd venture these cars were nothing special when you could buy a big block 4spd car. Now we look at it a lot different.

If you don't get an answer here, try We Did It For Love and the Vintage Funny Car sites. Too bad nitronics is gone, they would have ID'ed it.

Dude don't take this the wrong way, but I just got wood. That thing is bitchen! Great score, congrats. Even if it was an original body, who freaken cares. I'll take an old race car over an original any day.

Yea it's definitely a factory body that someone butchered there's a cutout in the hood were the injector stuck thru, there's also a frame in the trunk area that meets up to the chassis were it hinged to flip the body up, I'm Gona build a conduit frame to support the body and glass it back into one piece ( in my spare time)

  13. Is there a vin on it?

  14. This might be a shot in the dark, but years ago at the SEMA show, I was talking to John Force, and we got on the subject of some of his old racecars. He told me that his first racecar was a '54 Vette that was painted pink. He told me that he never saved any pictures of it, and if anyone had any, he would pay dearly for them. He never mentioned if the car was a Funny Car, though.

If there's any remmant of pink paint on the car, it would be worth seeing if it's Force's old car. It's a one-in-a-million shot, but just think about how many '53-'55 Corvette racecars were ever built back in the day. Very, very few.

That thing would make one great looking modified sports class Bonneville car.

A bunch of good clear and detailed photos of the frame might allow some of those in the know have an idea of who built the chassis for it.

  22. I doubt that it would compete or even be remotly legal for any funny class these days but it would make an excellent pro-mod car.

If it were mine I would still make it run on high test during the week and alchy on the weekends. We don't have an NHRA track herte any more but there are a few outlaw tracks around. It would be a hoot to crusie it in beat on it for the day and cruise it home.

Might still be pretty cool to know the history on it. Aside from the fact that there probably not very many '54 vette funnies there were not may topless funnies either.

    Not with center steering.
    Maybe ran as an altered.
Doesn't the cage have a mid 60's or newer look to it?
