Josh Shaw sent me an email the other day with the title of, "Check this shit out!" And when he does something like that, I pay attention and you fellas reap the rewards... See, Josh has been recently corresponding with Rich Harmon - a 71 year old man... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

Damn, miss those days. It's cold and raining here, but I got the HAMB to make me feel warm and fuzzy. Thanks Ryan.

Outstanding stuff. I usually don't care much for trailer photos, but these bring back some great memories just from looking at the names on those cars. Thanks, Josh.

The men that drove those cars had balls of steel. Open wheel racing's golden age for sure.

I'm not a fan of open-wheel racing but the technology on display is fantastic. Also cool to see a Caddy pulling a sprint car. Thanks.

What a great slice of racing history ... if only we could turn back the clock. Great shots of the cars and support vehicles, etc. I'd love to see more photos of the Ford COE gas transport in the shot with the #2 Jimmy McElreath car.

Incredible clarity and color. Love the feel of these shots. The subjects are very cool, but so is the background.
Thanks for sharing!!! |

Little did we know-that someday the Offenhauser would be gone. I'd give anything to be able to sit in that grandstand and HEAR that pack run down the straight and into the corner. As far as cost back then, the primary difference was that there were no sponsors buying 18 wheelers to haul the cars-the owners all had SEVERAL large in those cars with their $10000 engines.

I was around those cars as a little kid to the point of even sitting in a running Offy powered car warming up when I was my sons age. It was a magical time.
