Ive began an exciting project in Newberry,Michigan for Pepsi bottling company.I have been commissioned by Newberry Motors GM dealership of whom is housing the project to undertake the metal work custom restoration.
The cab is in great shape generally needing only minor metal work. There is added mild custom touches requested by Pepsi, removal of drip rails, removal of cowl vent, modern door latch system, mid cab line to become one piece, hood to be modified to a one piece hood and forward opening.
The fronts are in fair condition with the rear fenders are in a poor state, and because only fiber glass reproductions are only available and better condition originals seem impossible to find,we have to restore the ones we have.
A new rolling chassis and drive train has been built by a company in Ohio ready for the cab and bed to be mounted.
Here are the first photos of the project.Build photos to follow. Thanks for checking out the post.

These photos show the removal and elimination of the drip rail.A cut is made a long the center of the step and then the two sections brought in line, tacked and tig'd together followed by metal finishing ready for primer.

You might regret filing in the cowl vent unless you put alot of insulation on the firewall,I have just carpet on the firewall in my 37 and the cowl vent is needed to keep cool in that little cab.

This brings back memories, the lower cowl was the first areas I fixed on my 37 and where I learned to use a mig welder.

Our company asked Jon to help us with this project. The owner of the 38 wanted it done by this July 4th. All of the shops we had asked to do this said it would take 1-2 years to complete the bodywork due to other projects they are working on. The customer wasnt taking no for an answer. On a whim I googled metal work shops and stumbled across this guy calling himself : " The Metal Surgeon " in Denver, CO . I called and spoke of our deadline and asked if could fit it in ? His reply was no problem... We set a start date for early January and well you can see the great progress Jon has made... Pictures do not do his work justice.. The man is a craftsman like no other. If you can dream it up he can build it. His answer is always no problem. We are very lucky to have such a professional like Jon the metal surgeon on board with this Pepsi Truck build ! - Tim

I love the pics of the 38 Pepsi frame.. If you ever take more pics of the frame could you post them on here? Thanks and good luck onh your build..
