I wanted to run this February, 1954 feature from Car Craft Magazine mostly because I love the cover, but I also totally dig T-roadsters on deuce rails. And this one is different from most in that the body is actually channeled over the rails a few in... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

I also really like that car.
I kolorized it for the Rodder's Journal article... so I spend a lot of hours very close up with this car.

'50s rodders had it together didn't they. There seems to be a total lack of foforah, just enough flash to get your attention but not so much as to be gaudy. 105 in the 1320 that is remarkable, I have seen roads with modern engines that don't make that happen. I like red by the way, just not on wheels. ![]()

Perfect example of how and why to channel, IMO. A bit more rake than suits my taste, but what a cool little piece...

Great looking car, I've always liked 26-27 Fords. Sad looking at todays reality photos Mazooma1 posted.

Yeah I love red!!! Every one of my cars with have red on it or in it. Expect a lot of red out of me in the future after finishing my '35.
Speaking of 27 Roadster on '32 rails I believe this is a timeless combo and there was one at the HAMB drags that was super cool. |

The roadster is still owned by one of the gents that campaigned it on the salt for a few years, (late '80s?) flathead powered still. (the '32 shell is chromed, easy to spot)
I spoke with him on the phone 2 years ago, the roadster was for sale...as I recall, quite reasonable. Back in Street trim, in his garage, in Southern Calif. This car has gone through some changes...from Louis Banta and his partner to Skip Torgeson, (Skip painted it black, and added a stock height windshield, reversed '50 Merc wheels and caps, tall top...around '59. Was a HRM cover car, entitled 'Movie Town Model T'. The gent that was reproducing Sharp Equip'mt. (heads & manifolds, can't remember his name) was the one that bought the car and took it to Bonneville, as near as I could find out. I was very tempted to buy it when I talked with him.

Great looking little car.
Rickster, Which issue of the Rodder's Journal is that picture in? It takes forever to look through all of mine to figure out which one it's in. :-) |
