How do u figure out wat ratio your banjo is?

    Short of pulling all apart how can i figure it out.. its a 1947 lincoln unit. any one have any specs... Thanks

    I would guess 3:78, some were stamped on the center section......Bruce Lancaster may have a better answer for you.

    Lincolns of this period mostly had overdrive, along with the close ratio trans--ratios were 4.44 and 4.2something or the other--don't know non OD, but can lookitup. If you have the rear just sitting there, start turning over a drum and count turns of driveshaft for one turn of drum...
    Fords had tooth count (divide to get ratio) stamped on bottom of Banjo--I'd bet Lincolns did too.
    This rear is a Licoln design--no significant interchange with Ford.
