Its a more door. (4 door) and I love it. Lookin at the 2 doors on this model they dont look as good as the 4 doors do. This is my 1st Ford motors car. And its a kool one. Heres some pics of how it looks now. Im lookin to make a Mild custom out of it by just lowing it maybe a Mild custom seatcovers and dash cover, and a candy blue mettelflake paint job. Something like this. What you think. You guys here would know more then anywere eless. And wanted to know if you guys have any pics of these 60 merc other then whats on the internet. Theres not much on there.
Gonna get me a Mercury and cruz it up and down the road!! Nice score bro, that baby has some nice lines. Good luck and I think you are in for a lot of fun. Rock on! ~sololobo~
I dig it. I drive by a '60 exactly like that in someones yard every day I take my boy to school.. One of these days I'll stop and ask about it.....
George Jetson called he wants his dashboard back! always loved these cars. Watch out for 59/60 Chev owners after your grille LOL!
Great car, Ford was going all out for the medium price trade in those days with the brand new Edsel and moving the Mercury up into Olds/Buick territory. For only 4 years (57-60) they built a big, big Mercury that shared nothing with Ford and they were wild man wild. They are a pretty rare car as well. All you really need to do is some whitewalls and a cool paint job. At the time that car was built, the full custom had been ousted by the late model luxury car with custom paint like Larry Watson's Tbird and the like. It would make a perfect period custom with minimal reworking.
Nice Car should you ever decide to do a grill like the custom in the last picture, drop me a PM with a price on yours, i would like to put one on my 59 chev
One thing you may not like... they got about the worst mileage of any car made. Very heavy, with big V8s (430 Lincoln motor optional). 10-12 mpg not unusual.
Candy blue with a metal flake silver roof, cruiser skirts, lowered-more it the rear.Cool car and not seen much.
