I think that the photo of the wounded gunner being lifted from the Grumman Avender turret appeared in Life Magazine....
this is certainly on-topic, given the HAMB interest in historic photos...THANKS FOR POSTING!!!

Ya, I have never heard it put that way, it so true. And to Jive-Bomber's point, I have always felt that way when staring at early dry lakes pictures, tying to find more of the story, both cars and the people.
