So, I picked up this 58' Ford "anglia" Escort wagon about a month ago as our new family truckster. Goal here is to bring this mini back to a dependable daily driver / family weekend vehicle. Vehicle was imported from UK for the US market (LH drive) and at some point in the late 70's early 80's it took on an complete overhaul to include V6 Capri running gear. As you can imagine parts for both the escort and capri are almost non-existent in the US, so its proving to be a little more challeging than anticipated, but I'm plowing through it.
I've put about 200 miles on it already, however suspension and brakes are the primary issues at hand for drivability. I have already patched it up, but I need to start throwing some parts at it. Windows and exhaust have already been done. Here is the hit list - F/R brakes - front suspension - rear shocks - floor pan rot - interior - headliner - dash - wiring clean up - heat / air - stereo Here are some PICS

Thats a cool little sleeper, must be a blast to drive. That wiring is scary though, are you going to rewire it?

Far out! thats an interesting wagon. Our first Escorts down this part of the world were in 68-69. They were going to be called Anglia's but that name was the same or simular that of a Nazi death camp apparently so they became Escorts. That what I read many yaers ago anyway. The pic below is an English assembled Mk1 Sport (1974) that I had about 15 years ago. All the best for your build.

Known here downunder as a Thames van. I remember seeing a few years ago in US rod magazines with SBC and SBF in them. Love the Cragar SS wheels

Nice to see a 100E Escort on here - Had one myself. - Similar colour - maybe a bit more orangey.
Lots of UK rodders had 100E's back in the dim and distant. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Mart.

that thing is so cool I think the v6 engine in it lived on many years as the 3.0 in aerostar vans I wonder if a 8 inch rear from a MII or a pinto would fit in the rear

And this one already has had some suspension swaps. Originally, they had some weird 4bolt boltpattern, and they didnt come with discs ( drums on all 4 corners ) I'm guessing it has the front struts off a Cortina or a Capri, and probably a rearend swap too. Thats all good stuff. Those were cars that handeled well...

My friend had a stock Popular back in England, with that little 4 cylinder flathead it was faster to walk to the hideout.
I'd like to do a coilover conversion on my Capri, is there a kit available?
