Rumpville- the home of the TIHSEPA Kart club, and, of course, the legendary Jocko's Speed Shop.

Looks like they borrowed from Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. Pretty interesting idea.

Is this where Norm Grabowski got the idea for his place, "Rumpsville"?

That is a natural origin myth for the HAMB, I think, and easily the best thing HR Cartoons ever did...
HAMB's own utopian community vision! Catalina is out of $ight now, I fear, but maybe if we all chipped in $5 we could afford some Dakota or maybe Guatemala??

That's a great strip... Seems like they printed it several times over the years... as it well deserved!
I've been collecting CARtoons for quite some time (focused mainly on 1975 til it's demise)... got a decent collection... also been scanning the covers and anything else that floats my boat and postin em on a facebook page... There's also a great "CARtoons" thread here on the HAMB...

This is awesome to see some other Toons fans out there.
Rumpville was first featured in the very first issue of Cartoons in 1959. I break out my copy now and then when I need a chuckle. RIP Pete |

CarToons was my first car mag subscription. I learned how to draw from that mag. I recently hadthe revelation that the "How to Draw" section spawned my interest in tech articles. I am freelance journalist now, I specialize in how-to tech.
