  1. ---------------- 24th ANNUAL GUNNISON CAR SHOW-------GUNNISON COLORADO----------

    ************************** A VERY LATE ALERT *****************************

Fellas, time has gotten away from me in last month or two, would usually have already posted this notice, but here it is the middle of June. The local college is holding their welcome back weekend the same as the car show, so lodging will go fast. If you have any thoughts of attending, book a room NOW. You can change plans later.

Here's a link to last Two years threads so you can see what goes on:

Details and entry forms can be found at: www.gunnisoncarclub.com

CRUISE-IN: This year the show has some great features, the Friday night Cruise-In will feature a band that I first encountered at Viva Las Vegas many years ago. From the Albany New York area, The LUSTRE KINGS will be performing. This year the LUSTRE KINGS were opne of the Four Featured bands to play the VLV car show. these guys are top shelf entertainers all the way.

DJ: The show DJ this year is "Rusty the Ragtop Rocker" from Denver ! Rusty always puts on great show, is also the front man for the ATOMIC DRIFTERS, so maybe wc can talk into singing a couple of songs as well.

WORKSHOP: Many of you probably remember last years great Corvette seminar put on by Wil Cooksey,, and the previous years Flathead workshop by Dave Crouse of Custom Auto right here in Colorado. What great presentationsWil Dave did. We are having another workshop this year, topic and speaker unknown at this time. Would love to get Dave to share some more of his knowledge

The Lee Iacocca award will again be presented by the Gunnison Car Club. This years are being ironed out currently, will keep you posted as to who our special guest will be.

Also, am currently working on putting together some special displays such as last years Corvette or the year befores Race Car Display that included a Bonneville car, a Road Race Hemi Car and a few great Drag cars to boot.

Don't hesitate to PM me with any questions. Will be adding information along the way as things are nailed down. Hotel info to follow.

  17. Great show Gunnyville is a fun town. Now I just need to get my car there.

  18. Greg,

Bill has a bike shop right on North Main St., the Friday night cruise-in is literally on his front step. He is not active in the club, summer is his busy season at the store, but always supports the show with a couple entries. He makes it to my house for the Saturday after show delinquency. Good guy all around.

    Johnnie.

...provided one has a badge...or a "get outa jail free card" when the badge doesn't work that well...

Kidding aside, Harry is right. This is an event that is not to be missed.

    Looking forward to it.

  28. Last year we had an open skeet shoot Sunday morning for any car show participants that wanted to shoot. Any interest in that again ?

Also, I can talk to the practical shooters and see if they would be willing to set up a modest "steel challenge" course as well if anybody wants to bring a handgun and give it a try.

This year, one of the groups receiving funding generated by the show is the Gunnison Sportsmans Club (GSA). Am sure they would be friendly to doing something car show weekend. The funding is for a bathroom addition to the clubhouse that will help the whole community greatly.

Are you guys interested in any shooting ??????

Pretty rusty but would definitely be interested in the handgun course. Guns and hot rods...the perfect combination!

  30. Tom,

Talked to Gary H, he's in both the car club and the sportmans club. Said he will be happy to set up a "Steel Challenge" stage or two.

So boys & girls, bring that handgun and some ammo. No rifles, or magnums at the steel, will damage the targets. If ya got a 357 bring 38Spl to shoot, if ya got a 44 mag, bring 44 Spl for it, ect.

Am sure Gary will have .45 Govt. Model he'll let you shoot.

    Johnnie.
