    Attended Dragway 42 as a kid from 1958 to 1963... anybody got pictures from then, and there?
    Or, pictures of the cars that regularly ran there, during that time frame?

    I'll start off with a couple of my favorite cars that ran there;
    Otis Smith,

    and Gentleman Joe Schubeck.

    I'd like to see pics of all four lanes. Decades ahead of Charlotte's circus.

    Four Lanes...? what the hell are you talkin' about?...
    as far as I know back in the days I was there as a kid, there were three lanes;
    left and right,... and a return lane..
    This thread is about Dragway 42 from 1958 to 1963... please stay OT, the early days...Thanks,

    I was very young when my dad raced there,But ,There where 2 dragstrips side by side with a gaurd rail in between them. Ran separete classes at the same time
    And it was in the later 60's so Frenchtown isnt all wrong

    Never said he was wrong, the thread was very specific as to the time frame,
    1958-1963.
    Yes, Dragway 42 was probably the first in the country that ran a four wide program for quite a long time. The exception would have been a few strips in the very early '50s that
    would occasionally 4 wide, and even 6 wide, before racing got standardized by the NHRA.

    YES, it was Gary B, I accidentally deleted most of the pictures that were posted...

    P.S.-I found them again in My Documents!... It seems that when you take pictures out of your albums in your profile on the HAMB, it deletes them from the postings you have made.
    So, will post 'em again when I have time.

    And another one...
    ART ARFONS - CYCLOPS powered by a J-79 surplus jet engine, still one of the most powerful ever built. When he would hit the afterburner half way down track, all HELL would break loose!!!

    I don't have any of my pictures from back then anymore, so I have to search on the web for pics. of cars from the day. Believe me, I have searched everywhere for pics. of that car. I loved It!!
    He was always a top runner, and that car lived up to it's name...!
    As I recall, I think his last name was Musick.
