Picture never showed up. I finished blocking the frame today but was to hot to re-prime. Hopefully tomorrow. A friend from a long time ago came by to help today. It sure made the work easier. Thanks Tio Geo!!! Rick |

Can't beat that! Bonneville is someplace I need to go. Thanks Brett.
On a sad note today, I was informed that sanding epoxy primer with 400 grit is a mistake. For adhesion I need to go over it with 220 grit. Learn from my mistake. As the older guys from the acrylic laquer days will remember, 400 grit was what we used before painting and between primer coats. Is this what they mean by "live and learn"? |

Rick, I have a restorer friend here that wet sands his epoxy with 600 then paints. His urethane single stage paint jobs are beautiful even before he cuts and polishes them. I have sanded the DP primers with 400 lots of times without adhesion problems.

An early Merry Christmas to me again. When something like this happens, it puts a smile on my face.
I asked my son to organize a shelving unit in my shop that has all my automotive chemicals and other supplies and look what he found hidden behind some of the containers. Now I have to research what reducer will work with this primer. Any ideas??? |

I just got my Jeg's catalog and noticed that they sell quarts of lacquer already reduced and ready to spray for $21.99 a quart. Now tell me how they are able to legally do that? Oh yeah, in Hugger Orange too!

Order a QT and see if you can actually get them to ship it to your ZIP code... Even McMaster won't ship most of their solvents to me in La Verne .

You get what you pay for............definitely in this case. You use that stuff on cars you plan to sell, not keep.

I found the leftover quart of Academy Grey Poly from the front axle of the Sedan. It is off a 1976 Cadillac and we used it on something on all our cars back then. Remember, we were on a budget, no chrome axle for us. I painted it grey and then inside the "I" was orange.

I tried Soda Ash for a couple of days and then Muriatic Acid. 90% clean but I think I'm "Ready to Rumble" Oops, I mean tumble.

Had a productive weekend. Blasted the springs (still had to hand sand the last of the Hugger Orange off), ground them and primed them along with the floor pieces, dash tunnel and spindles. I knew my forklift was good for something!

Hey Rick, you have a portable paint booth/work bench/man lift/etc too. I have used my forklift for just about everything, even lifting heavy items. Looks like good progress. When are you planning to start re-assembly?

The visual perspective, in the pic showing the dash insert and the spindles cause those spindles to look huge!

Dale-
I am optimistically looking at about 2 weeks for reassembly. Maybe just wishful thinking but I think it can happen if work doesn't get in the way. Brett- Those spindles are huge. They are out of a 2 1/2 ton truck just in case we pull the wheels. Just kidding. I learned about perspective photography to fool my wife. ![]() Les- Thanks. It was great meeting you the other day and seeing your cars. |
