1959 to 1960 was a major transition period in the automotive world, and it affected hot rodding & customs for years to come. For starters, the small car craze started by the Volkswagen Beetle had now impacted US car sales, resulting in the all new co...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Thanks. Now I know for a fact that my Edelbrock FE 3 deuce intake was available in 59 predating the Ford unit. I thought it went back that far but I had no documentation. I love old catalogs.
Old catalogs are cool. Wonder if Edelbrock still has all of their old patterns? A short, limited run (100?) of some of the old manifolds, valve covers would go over big, especially when you consider what some of the original parts for Cads, hemi's, etc. go for nowadays. I realize that's a short run for a large company, but if a vendor were to get several exclusive runs, even at a higher price, I think they'd be able to sell out and make everyone happy.
i dont know why, but it seems like edelbrock stuff is getting harder and harder to find, compared to offy or fenton ect.
There are so many old parts needing ID's on hamb...should there be threads to use as references for the future? Like Fenton, trans dapt, offy, wilcap, edmunds, etc ?
Anyone going to Bakersfield this weekend? We are leaving tomorrow, Friday morning about 10:00 from Glendora. Love to have company.
Edelbrock won't do it, man. Trust me - several of us (especially me) 318 Poly guys have tried to get them to do a run of the P600 3x2 and those matching valve covers for years, to no avail. Those valve covers are impossible to find, and go for like $800 a set when they do come up. The 3x2 P600s go for $400 - $600, but you can actually find those every once in a while... And they made like 1200 of them between 1956 & 1968. Think how small the number of valve covers made was! ~Jason
Awesome post Jay! Everybody loves old catalogs. Can somebody tell me the difference between the sbc #355 and the #357B. The 355 I guess is for 265 and the 357 is for 283. but what did they change on the intake? I didn't know there were two different part #s.
Yes. the C355 had the small '55-'56 size ports. Most of them are also drilled for the 1955 oil filter return line.
