I work by myself almost all of the time. I tend to work on about five projects at one time and so I am very messy, but ask me for a tool or a part and I can find it in a few seconds. So how do you lift your truck cab off of the frame an keep it level so you can work on it and place it on a dolly? I have an engine crane, however the stock pickup cab on the stock height frame was too tall for the crane to lift it straight up. Using about $20.00 worth of wood and hardware I devised a lifting tool. I mounted a 1/2" threaded rod in the top plate and used 1/4" bolts welded to the sides of the nuts to used for my adjustments. I also used nylon straps to secure the top cross rail to the body. I made a dolly for the cab (it also worked for the bed) to roll it off of the frame. While I was working on the underside of the body I made stands that mounted to the firewall to keep the body from resting on the frame.
