    That's what I call a "hairy" intake.

Well that's about the stupidest thing I've ever seen.....and I love it hahah!!!! You're going to kill yourself!!!!

  9. That's gonna be a lot of air going through that little puppy. Hope it holds up.

  10. I was thinking that the blower would do a good job of "mixing" the dog...

The idea sounds perfectly insane.... I too am wondering if it's going to be mid-engine??

Instead of "Hemi Under Glass", it would be more like "Hemi Up Your A**"....

That hemi better be going in the "trunk"

  14. Blown puppy power! That's a new one for the HAMB.

Actually, he'll be inside the blower, like a hamster, and provide massive volumes of power to that little Hemi! Lots of "yips!" per gallon!

WHO couldn't love a hemi in a Corvair? Even Ralph would probably crack a smile. At the least, I'll bet the belt stays on the pulleys better than the original one did. DD

    Oh yeah!

    Let's hit the checklist:

    Stupid? Yes.
    Unnecessary? Yes.
    Hemi? Yes.
    Blower? Yes.
    Beer? Yes.
Small fur bearing animal to operate mechanical linkages under the hood? Yes.

    Bitchin'? Oh fuck yeah!

Is this the build thread? I'll go ahead and subscribe to it just in case. Oh, and by the way, I'm sending you some DVD's today (if I can get out of the house)

I love it! Keep us posted on this insanity. I love Corvair and overpowered Corvairs are even cooler.

    I'm curious too.

I still want to do a straight-axle'd, front-engined Corvair with an Edsel 361.

The famous Goodies Speed Shop in San Jose (Jungle Jim Liebermann's Home Base) was founded, owned, and run by Richard Guess. His original decal pictured a rear-engined Corvair with blown Hemi. (1961?)
Someone said the car actually existed, although I never saw it...
Muttley, do you have that decal???

  21. The plan is an early-mid 60s altered, engine up front. I plan to actually run this at the local track. I'm looking for a '47-'54 Chevy truck axle and leaf springs. I'll probably slap a cheap S10 rear axle under there for now; get a proper late 50s early 60s rear after it blows up. Got a set of big and little slots, 8.5x15 and 3.5x15 I've had for years waiting on the right project.

It'll be a while before I can get the Hemi and blower rebuilt, but I have a truck with a strong running small block and a 4bbl. I may have to rob. This is on the shelf as well:

Wow! There's not too much cooler than a
blown early hemi stuffed down the throat
of a Corvair!!! That's about as bad as they
get!!! As for that much over-used "Nader's
    Nightmare
    " moniker....Ha! I preferred the
much more 'upscale and classy' "Poor Man's
    Porsche
" 'nom de guerre' for my old '68
'Vair!:D (Sadly, mine desperately needed but
didn't have :)()a blown hemi in it though!):D

Looks like there will be plenty of room between the stock wheel wells after sinking the engine down it there, just carefully cut out the spare tire well. Gonna need to set it back 12" from here to clear a 3" radiator and mechanical fan. That puts the rear carb right at the hood opening.

    Makin' the noise.

  30. Some of that floor is structural... Take it from somebody who could cut a Corvair into small enough chucks with a Sawzall to fit 2 in the back of a pickup truck, you cut through anything with double layers and they fold up.
