Event Coverage ****200+ PHOTOS from CHRR, Bakersfield

Took a bunch of photos, but edited them down to 200+ or so. Couldn't stick around too long because of they typical trouble with the old back pain. Hey, what do you expect for $100,00 worth of surgery?
But I stayed for two hours longer than last year....so that's something.
I didn't try to match them up with trying to keep like photos with like photos....just slog your way through them and if ya like 'em, give them a bump so they don't end up in the HAMB junkyard of the forgotten threads too soon. Thanks, Doug

I was following these guys for a few miles, about 7:30 or so...hopefully they will see this

the Stellings and Hampshire dragster, in my opinion the best looking rail ever...







this is one of the few "legs under" cars", meaning that the driver's legs went UNDER the differential. I have been invited to give it a "try" by the current owner, Dennis, but I have passed on several occasions . I don't know, my knees don't bend that way.

Danny Thompson brought his dad's (Mickey) "Assault 1" to the strip. It's the first time I've seen it at Bako since 1993, the 2nd CHRR.

(I think that the '34 flip-top Phaeton was built by Jim Green from Washington state, who used to run the Green Elephant funny car.)
