The Joel Young flathead Model T powered streamliner that has been covered here before, had a record speed of 201.700. Not half bad for a flathead T powered car IMHO. Must be the first and only T powered 200MPH club member. Well Done.
Correct me if i'm wrong but this was the diesel powered 'liner from many moons ago, right? Was this a new record or just a one way run?
Can't tell you how impressive this record is. Remember, this complement is coming fom a guy who invested many years trying to get a flathead over 200!
That is incredable! Vintage tech on the move. Whats it take to get a 4 banger to pull 200 mph. There's guys pushing BBC's that haven't met that goal
VERY impressive red hat runs! Congratulations to them. This will, IMHO, be one of, of not the most, impressive feats of the week. The 309+ mph run with the Ford flathead is up there too!
1909 - The Model T raced from New York to Seattle. One source lists the average speed as a little under 8 MPH for a run through quicksand and bottomless mud... 2010 - 200!!! Shows what patient development can accomplish! Along with not keeping your race course under several feet of mud... 101 years in the race. What will flathead eights be doing in 2032??
I can't believe it, a T banger runs 200 and there is only a page of, 'yeah well done'. Guys this is the basis of our hobby, true hot rodding. Worship these guys for the feat they accomplished, they deserve it!! Doc.
I stopped by looking for Speed Week news, guess I found some. A Model T motor going 200 mpH? FANTASTIC! Congrats, and thanks for posting.
That is wild. You could make the argument that this was a bigger accomplishment than some blown donovans running 3-400mph....
What a feat!!!!!!!!! Those that have gone to the "Salt in the sky" must be cheering now!!--------Congrats to JOEL YOUNG!!!!!!!!
Now, whereinhell is the fairly recent post that showed the engine from that thing?? I have not been able to find it. We have to know more!! And...what's with the single-cylinder Oldsmobile community?? They haven't made much noise since the Pirate... http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z15141/Oldsmobile-Pirate-Race-Car.aspx
