While perusing thru Eric's photo gallery of his fine leather products for hotrod,
    http://hotrodleather.com/
(I believe Eric is a Alliance Vendor)......
I stumbled on a KILLER Track Roadster...... and was put in touch to a fine gentleman by the name of Ron Limbrick.
After corresponding back and forth.... he told me more about this beauty he has been toiling on for some time.
Inspired by a Old R&C article written by our dear Ole Dad Gray Baskerville.... and a slick rendering by Chip Foose.... Ron set out to build a dream.
I know Ron is a lurker here... but not sure if he is a member....
Ron wanted to create a car that would troll the streets of California, with deep roots on the Salt... somewhere around 39 or so....
I see heavy influence as well from the Mack roadster.....
Ron is(I believe) 71 years young and has just retired recently...... he puts the "THUNDER" in Thunder Bay....
Ron... if your hear...... jump on and comment about this super killer piece!

  14. Thanks Jeff for doing this, you are very kind ! Thanks also to the members that responded. When you live in an isolated community such as Thunder Bay,it is nice to get positive feedback from afar. It would have great to have built in steel (been there, done that) but I couldn't find any tin that I could have used that suited my wants as much as the Zipper package did. As far as the items of interest goes, Kevin Lee made the AERO DISCS (both inner and outer) "Crafty B", Michigan, created the beautiful headlights, Hot Rod Leather made the outstanding hood straps and spring covers (Spats) as well as a few other very neat items, Haneline supplied the gauges and '32 style dash insert. Bob Baas from Alexandria,Mn (B&J Auto) built the Super "B" engine which is hooked to a GM 200C tranny. The diff is a '46 ford commercial with the open pinion. I must admit that when I'm about to turn out the shop lights at the end of the day, I can't help but turn around and feel a debt of gratitude to the guys that showed us the way, back in the early days of hot rodding. I hope that they would be pleased, wherever they are.
    Ron

Just absolutely beautiful. I like it that everything on the car works and flows with everything else on the car and nothing appears to be added as an afterthought.

This build really is something special. Ron's incredible attention to detail shows on every component. To say he "nailed it" would be an understatement. I was lucky enough to get to see pictures of this build as it came together, and what you can't easily see-(like the finish on the frame, for example)-is just as perfectly executed as the rest of it. I am absolutely thrilled that my work was able to be even a small part of this remarkable project. Incredible job, well done, Ron!!

  23. I thought you might enjoy the coversation I had with Dan Baker (ALUMICRAFT) last evening regarding the project.........
    Hey Ron
I thought you were going to compete for AMBR in January?
If so, doesn't this now disqualify the car?
    Dan

Hi Dan; Haaaa . I would like to take it to THE show just for the fun and a once in a lifetime experience.
Ahhhh........ AMBR ,one can only dream...... anyway ,I don't have any room for the trophy :)
You have to admit Dan, it is a very nice insert though. Maybe you can check it out in Detroit next year.
    Good to hear from you!
    Ron

Will do Ron, I'll be at Detroit. A buddy of mine had his '48 Caddy convertible picked for the Cavalcade of Customs at the KKOA show last weekend.

The insert is just a nice compliment to the rest of the great car!

  27. I took these pictures of the speedo I installed today. This is what I did with the '20's Stewart drum speedometer that came from Ely Mn via eBay. Anyway, the guts of that one were toast so I used the can part of it along with the under dash mount. I mounted a Dakota Digital speedmeter behind a copy of the original face with a rectangular hole in it so that all you can see of it is the read out when the key is on. If you notice, the insert in the dash has a tach in it and you do have to have an odometer to get a safety in Ontario. The Dakota does have that. I think it looks like it fits.
