Finally got around to scanning my Hot Rod Collector Cards and thought I'd post a few examples. Must have bought these in the mid 60s since cars always seemed more interesting to me than baseball. They were packaged like baseball cards, maybe five in a pack with a piece of pretty bad bubble gum. They covered a very wide range of cars, dragsters, Bonneville racers, car shows and even a boat or two. But I never managed to collect the whole set of 66 cards, so I'm hoping to maybe trade some of my duplicates for the 8 cards I'm missing. There was thread here a couple years ago about these cards so I know there's some other members here that collected them too. If you have any duplicates and need a few cards to complete your set, let's see if we can work out a card for card trade. The cards that I'm missing are numbers 8, (21, LOCATED!) (22, LOCATED!) 27, 44, 53, 60 and 65. Even if you don't have extras to trade I wouldn't mind seeing scans of them just to see what I was missing. I don't have dupes of all the others but the ones I have are still in pretty fair shape. The print quality on them, even when new, was pretty hit and miss.
Sorry about the quality (or lack) of the scan - they are much better in real life . They went to pot after I resized them . These are what you are looking for , unfortunately I only have duplicates of #49 and #31 . Im missing only about 3 cards for the whole set .
Okay, you can keep it.. You EARNED it after all! By the way Dean, who's the little kid in the pic?? Ha, ha. -Dave
If you look at the cards, nobody's names are on them. I believe it was because that way Petersen didn't have to bother with getting a release signed. The cards were just another way of getting some more miles out of the photos they had used in magazines.
Hey, I got a bite on a couple cards already. 24riverview- Here's what I've got to swap for a couple of yours. Anyone else needing to pick up a few missing cards, feel free to list them here. Well if it get's busy enough in here I just may do that!
I have a few from when I was a kid also. God only knows where I have them stashed! Like my friends wife says "When you die its going to be a hell of an auction!"
some on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/1960S-SPEC-SHEE...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20b255031a
24riverview came up with a couple cards I needed which were swapped out for a couple of my extras that he needed. Can't beat that deal! Still a few holes in my collection though. Still in need of numbers 8, 27, 44, 53, 60 and 65. And I've got a fair amount of spares for trading material. Anybody else sitting on some these cards?
