It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here.Last Summer I purchased a 34 Ford from another HAMB member.Although it was a running and driving project there were things I didn't like about the car.It had a 4 bar, disc brake, tube axle front end that just wasnt doin it for me.So I contacted Eric at Rileys Automotive http://www.riley-auto.com/ and went with a whole new front end and Brake set up.Bell Chromed Dropped Axle,Chrome Hairpins,Lincoln Brakes.Next was the small block Chevy in the car, it was cool,2x4's,Vette Valve Covers etc., but to me it was just another Chevy in a Hot Rod.So I thought I might build another Early Cad OHV V8 or even a early Hemi. But then I came across another Eric, who owns Go Cat Speedshop in Colorado. http://www.gocatspeedshop.com/ He's a flathead guy and is really passionate and knowledgeable about all things Flathead and just a real cool guy to deal with in general. This week I decided to go ahead with a 304" Stroker Flatty,4x2's,Sharp Heads,Schneider 425 racing cam bolted to my existing T5 in the Hot Rod. This will be my first hopped up Flathead engine, I'm pretty excited about it. I'm third on the list and should have the engine sometime in July this year.Sold the Chevy 350 yesterday, so there's no turning back now..lol. Thanks to the HAMB I've become good friends with George Ferro (35Mstr) whom I met when he came over with some HAMBers to help me unload a crate after my Auto Accident in September 2009.George is helping me out on this project and the 34 resides in his newly constructed shop at his home.We plan on tearing out the old front end and installing the new one real soon.I'll take pics.Thanks-Hope everyone is well..Happy Roddin! Marcus PS-Come out to Gunnison Colorado August 20-22 for the 23rd Annual Gunnison Car Show if you can.I'll be there with my band The RevTones.
A Word Of Caution! Marcus: Les Silveria (Who Graduated with your dad and I) built a 3/8 x 3/8 flathead (he lived across the steet from Vic Hubbards) it was in a 48 coupe, when he scattered a clutch at Fremont, I think it caused them to start requiring scattershields in 1959 or 1960. But I think the Flathead is a Good choice!
Any upates??? I am also thinking about buildin a 304 ci FH with 4 pot intake. I'll be keeping an eye on this....... HC.
35Mastr and I are about to tear some shit up this weekend! Two crazy Portagees can only mean trouble! lol... The Chevy engine comes out, tearing out the current suspension and taking the body off the frame.Only the front of the frame was boxed and not done very well.I just ordered boxing plates from Welder Series in Canada.Lots of work ahead! The Flathead should be ready by August.
Engine Sold to a fellow HAMBer, front end is off and is now for sale, George(35Mastr) busted out his Plasma Cutter and removed the old boxing plates in the front of the frame. The rest of the frame was never boxed.Stay tuned for more pics..
