Wally Parks' picture used to appear in HRM sitting in a great-looking '28/'29 on deuce rails. Anybody know if the car was actually his, and whether it is still in existence?

I am pretty sure that the roadster was Wally's it was a very neat looking car and if my memory serves me right it looks alot like the Don Ferrara car?

Yes, they were similar in style. The Ferrara car had an "A" frame, outside headers, and polished hood louvers; the Parks car is on a Deuce frame and no exhaust is visible -- I guess I'm not really certain it was a V8!

I am sure it would have had a V-8. Did you read the editorial David Freiburger did on Wally in Hot Rod? It was great, felt like I knew Wally - what a career the guy has had. National Dragster did a neat issue celebrating Wally's 90th.

I asked Wally about that car at the Indy trade show year before last. He said that he sold it a long time ago and has never seen it again.

John Good in Chatworth, California, is a friend of Wally's and he built his '29 as a copy of Parks' A-V8 roadster, which also looks an aweful lot like the car Tom Medley always drew Stroker McGurk driving around in. John's car is actually on the cover of the November R&C...
