Some of you may have seen an article I wrote for Hop Up #9 called "From Bert's Brownie" featuring 13 amazing photographs by Bert Bloomquist taken between 1947 and the early 50s, mainly at the dry lakes. The good news is that there were a large number...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Wonderful stuff... proof positive that a photo doesn't have to be "perfect" to be perfect. Thanks for making my day. Looking forward to more.
Thanks. I especialy like image 32! to me this epitamises an early hot rod. Is this maybe a Model A cabrolete? running 18" tires? Ted
"(PS- There are much more to come if you fellas like these…" Hell yeah, we live for this stuff! Thanks for posting.
Totally cool-- I just wanted to protect them from ending up on other websites or in print without Bert's permission. Thanks for asking.... Enjoy!
Thanks for posting the pics. Every time I see cool old pics from that era I think I was born about 60yrs. too late. To have been a hot rodder in your 20's at that time in hot rodding history would have been amazing. Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks Again.
Great stuff! Thanks Bert for taking these and saving them all these years and Jive-Bomber for sharing them.
Imagine your digging through that box of pics you had just found in the attic, in the summer, any year... Ahhh

Sweet thanks! I just wanted to make sure. I would never reprint them, but they would go awesome in the screen saver program I am making for myself. thanks for posting.....I need more.
Cool Jay. Glad you're getting some mileage out of these pics. No pun intended. Bert's memory of each photo is truly amazing. Could talk with him for hours regarding these photos.
