Thats a great buy! I hope it all works ot for you. I dont think the hubcaps are from that era or the tires:D but everything else for the pics looks to be authentic.

Actually the 32 5 window (in my avatar) might be for sale but probably not a give-a-way. Points for asking though...lol

The photos were actually taken by his Dad (before he sadly died) and yes those hubcaps were thrown on in the late 90s and those tyres will go but underneath are solids waiting for caps and rings.

Better? Sorry. I'm not following. Maybe I'm missing something but how could this coupe get "better"?...lol

9/10 original body with 9/10 original paint, hot rod mystery (now I have to track down it's history but we have the original registration papers from 1957 in the previous owner's name so that might hold some clues.

I wish I could call this a genuine "Barn Find" but it's better than a barn. It's an enclosed garage and has been in the same family (and sitting in the same spot in the garage since!) 1957.

Is it possible for a single carb flathead powered 34 coupe to pull 14s down the quarter? This is a quote from (dear 'ol departed) Dad and even though it might not be so accurate it does lend itself to further mystery. The car will remain untouched until it it's rolled off the truck into my driveway but I'm waiting for some live pics of the details (which if course I'll immediately post here).

What are you trying to do, take all of our cars to Oz? I know you have a shortage of closed cars over there but really...Nice find. Those photos look like they might have been taken up in the Palos Verdes area, if that is the case it could be from the South Bay.

Lol...I wish. Fact is I'm at my limit for my "car stuff" and those with folded arms and stern looks on their faces are "suggesting" that I should "probably" sell the 32 to pay for it so my gain (this 34) is someone else's gain (the 32). I'm really into this 32 though and am trying to figure out a way to keep both cars but I think that's a little beyond me at the moment.

However, I am a business guy with car dreams and one day I'll have my 20 car garage filled with cars that I've always wanted but for now I'll just have to "settle" for some really cool hot rods.

If I was "rich guy" I'd be buying us all cars! Fact is that buying is very good right now but I didn't haggle for one second on this car. I paid the asking and did so quickly. As the story goes some other guys looked at it and really hammered the guy on price. The story behind this car (not to mention it's eye popping condition - 9/10 stock body with 9/10 factory paint?!! - I mean who ever finds cars like this?) makes it even more desirable. It's like it's 1957 and I just bought an old ford hotrod in "pretty good" condition.

Can't wait to start a "chop or not" thread!

    ...lol...relax. Just kidding...lol

    True.

As soon as I get more porn I'll share it. I'm still in shock to be honest.

lol, no, just two of them. Actually the 32 5 window you can have back...lol I'll swap you for this cherry 34.

The car was garaged in Northern California and these photos were all taken ages ago by the Father. I'm going to enjoy unearthing the story behind this car but even if we get no closer to finding the original builder of this car I think it's current story is just so cool I can barely believe it's me telling this story.

  21. Haha! I'm just jealous 'cause the only '34 I have is a shitty old truck , and a Chevy at that!

That is a sweet car and the find of a lifetime. And between you and me, I would take a '34 over a '32 any day.

    Don't worry...I'll share.

I still need a chopped coupe in my life but maybe that will be the car I'll have to wait for. In the meantime I'll have to drive around in this old Jalopy.

Hey!...you said, "in slightly better shape" than the other coupe body. You lie! You lie! LOL. Congratulations on finding a real "time-machine". Happy for you. BTW Bill...if it means the difference between keeping both this car and the '32...sell that other body, and to heck with the "hamb-built coupe". I wouldn't blame you a bit. To be able to have both cars side by side?...awesome. You'll thank yourself in years to come. You know, having one car such as your '32 or this '34 is neat, but I think they get lonely. Now two cars sitting side by side in the garage is a "scene"...with connotations of a drag-race! Gotta have two if you can. Besides...maybe they'll have pups!

Thanks Ricky! You talk wise. I can picture it! A cool 50s hot rod and it's racing equivalent side by side. Too cool for words.

I'm trying to see if there is anyway I can keep both cars but if the right buyer comes along with the right price (my inbox is suddenly full of private messages about the 32 coupe) right now, they can take advantage of this moment of weekness and snap up my 32.

    Well...if you must.

In that case, simply make a resolution to have a traditional custom in the future. Nothin' like a Rod&Custom sitting side by side.

Ok, you guys KNOW that you have to stop suggesting stuff because I'll go right out and do it. I would LOVE a custom to slide around with. Let me make a note.

    Thank you.

Thanks. I feel sick with nerves. I want to hop on a plane and fly right to California right now to sit in her until the truck arrives to pick her up, stay in her in the loading dock, in the container and while she waits at customs. Then I want to continue sitting in her while she's trucked from the wharf to my house and only then I'll get out and open the roller door...then I can relax.

Thats a nice find, but may I suggest you leave this one over there for the HAMB coupe and bring back the rough one in a suitcase. Cheaper to freight, and then all us Aussies will have a cool coupe to travel around in when we visit the USA..............For a small fee of course.
