Gene Winfield in Australia

I heard Gene Winfield was in Australia right now. Any reports from down under?

 

They're getting ready to run LSr salt cars down there. My 'mate' Rob Cranfield is running, will surely see Gene there. Wish I could be there!

 

As of last Sunday night at midnight he was still in the Metro Detroit area.

 

Man, that guy gets around. I was just in his class in Mpls a few weeks ago.

 

Sidney N.S.W. was my old stomping grounds. In the Lake Illawarra district from '61 to '71.. Man I miss it there..

 

The 60's explains why you can't spell the city's name correctly.

Still looking for an update on Gene's trip down under.

OK... since no-one else has chipped in.

Yes, Gene is in Australia. He came to do a fade job on Mario Colalillo's custom '59 Caddy and then hold a two day metal working workshop where he also helped with chopping another project of Mario's, an FB (1961) Holden Panel Van (Sedan Delivery).

I was fortunate to be there on the Friday to watch Gene lay on the colours, which didn't look that amazing until the clear went on. Then WOW!!!

The car's under wraps, so can't show too much, but here's a few teasers.

It was an amazing time and even I could'nt keep up with Gene... Mario and his Son Andy are awesome guys and now Awesome friends....I have over 300 pics but I cant add them on like others..love to share... Nice to meet you to Brootal...

 

I bought him a beer once. I didn't know for a long time after that he doesn't drink. He never said anything, just accepted the beer. Really nice guy. I'd love to bump into him again.

He is east. The workshop was in Sydney.

Just got home from a week in sydney, spending 6 days with mr gene winfield was just incredible! took over 2 thousand shots haha oops!
Consider myself super fortunate to have been able to be a part of something so awesome. will post a pic or two soon, heres me gene and luke last night celebrating hahaha! gene knows how to party
