Here's a new project. To chop or not to chop, that is the question. I like them chopped and unchopped, so I know its a matter of personal preference, just wanted to see what the concensus is in hamb-land. If any have some pics of 41 business coupes (chopped and unchopped post them up. I dont have the skills for the chop but my buddy does, anything else to consider that might help. Thanks!

business coupes look odd due to the qtr windows appear to be the size of the door glass opening....do a deluxe or get some doors to swap.Just my 2 cents

Check out my Avatar. My '41 is chopped 2 1/2 inches, it has frenched headlights and parking lights. The tail lights are tunnelled in '42 Buick and also tunnelled antena right front fender. I am sorry that the "B" pillar is not slanted. But, I am happy with the car as is.

To me a mild custom would be better suited for this car ...No chop

To me,the 41 roof and windows are too big, compared to a 39/40...but,the profile and shape of a good chop on these cars can be stunningly beautiful..

I don't understand what you talking about?
"do a deluxe or get some doors to swap?"

I'm NO Ford expert, but I feel pretty good about saying this....
The Deluxe was a trim package, NOT a body style package, the only doors that will fit his car (w/out major fabrication) would be from another business coupe or an Opera Coupe (what was sometimes called a 5 passenger coupe. )

in 1941 Fords Coupe was offered in 3 body styles...2 of the 3 had the same roof line (the roof that is similar to a 1940 Ford Coupe) & door size (some call this the short door) These would be the Business Coupe & the Opera Coupe, the 3rd body style was known as a "Sedan Coupe" or a six passenger coupe, this had the long door & abruptly ending roofline. The door overall is longer, not just the widow opening.
All were offered in Standard, Deluxe, or Super Deluxe TRIM packages.

As for my opinion, If it was my car I would leave it un chopped, the factory roofline is too sweet to try & improve on. NOT to say it cannot be done, obviously it can, but I would leave it.

I love old Fords, both chopped & un chopped!

    SIncerely,

I attached mine, I prefer chopped as you can see. They look a little cartoonish stock, a little like a Chevron Toy Car. Although if you go on Riksters site, Valley Customs did a really nice un-chopped one! It sits really good!

Chop it, one of the best customs was Jesse Lopez's chopped '41, also on Rikster's site under Barris Customs.

  26. The business coupe doors are the same as the four door. I think what some are saying is use the club coupe or tudor sedan doors that are 8 1/2 longer
I did that years ago. that and a heavy chop
    plus chopped a 41
