This morning I was sitting at the lone stop light in the sleepy little town of Dripping Springs, TX in my new daily driver - a 1939 Deluxe Ford Sedan (story for another day). And when I say "sleepy," I mean it - there wasn't a soul around as the sun ... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

Sold my '56 in 1976 because I was dead broke and it was way down in December. I was already eating beans and rice two times a week. Still regret lettin' 'er go. Maybe someday I'll have another. Love those Effie pickups.

Which version of Richard Axcell's truck is it that you like?
There are two different versions pages 18,19 and 24,25. Same plate number FSX 494. |

55 Ford car grille? It makes me think a 64/65 Falcon look. Works for me. Got to show that to dad for his 55.

I kinda like the Joe Zubian '56. IIRC it was on the cover of HRM back then.

I agree! I'm assuming it's the newer version of the two.
It's a cool looking truck anyway you look at it, but I think that '55 Ford passenger car grill really sets it apart. |

I still regret selling my 53 Effie. The guy that did the upholstery in my '40 has been building a wild kustom F100 for 30 years, molded bed, pan, etc. - looks like he took cues from several of the trucks pictured. Here's a friend's mild custom.

Featured truck huh??? I know there was one on a mid 50's Hot Rod with a Cad V8 but I think that Dean's truck is the coolest featured truck of all time. That was the question right? Favorite Featured Truck?

Uh yeah, Dean's would take the cake for sure... But I was asking for your favorite of the trucks posted.

The '55 Chevy....definitely the Chevy. The second Axcell truck is a close second, though!

I have always dug the F-100 of Nick Cozzitorto. All the body work by Gene Winfield, Lancers, I love the front end. It seems like you would want to clone this truck. Ever notice that the hood shot is from another truck! It was from another truck from another issue. You don't always notice it at first. One of the good little books.

Don't know if I could pick a favorite ... I pretty much dig all of 'em!

Ha!!! Sorry about that. If I were to choose between the two of these it would have to be Nick Cozitorto's because of it's simplicity (sort of). Probably not dream truck winner material but more my taste as it does not have scallops or crazy paint. I also like the way it sits and even though the chop is funny it's still kind of sinister looking. My only change really would be to include the grille off Richard Axcell's truck because it's clean and proportionate to the body.

Ryan, are your interests changing? Seems like a few years ago you were mainly into the simple '40s style cars.
That F100 with the '55 car grille in it is bitchin!!
