This place closed after it got flooded. A lot of the buildings are still standing. You can see the top of the castle from the road. There's still a lot of cool roadside Americana in the Lake George area.

I was 2 at the time of these pictures. Yet, I remember this park so well and the last time I was there was probably 1964. Can you imagine...........an amusement park with no charge for parking! and it was affordable and most of the entertainment did not include additional charges or fees..................... I also fondly remember Boulder Park in Indian Falls NY, Glen Park in Williamsville, NY, And Crystal Beach in Crystal Beach, Ontario. I'm so glad someone else remembered this place! I wish it was still open when my kids were young. My parents used to go there all the time as they had some friends who were formally from Akron NY living in the Upper Jay area. I now live in Gasport NY, all the way across the state from there.

This is my grandpa on the bumper, his brother in the car and my mother in the stroller, should be around -51-52, my mother was born early -50.
I think its grandpas brothers car, my grandpa had a Harley with sidecar that he drove grandma and 4 kids around in. I will see if i can find more pics, but this is the only one i got now!

I'm not familiar with Frontier Town, where was that? We had friends who lived basically across the street from the Land of Make Beleive in Upper Jay, in the olld Post Office, basically across the Ausable river. Bob and Mable Fitzhans, he drove a tanker truck. They also owned several acres of land and were building a new house, it was so beautiful and secluded. we had to go over a one lane wooden bridge to get to it, and go down a dirt road. This was so long ago, my partents are long gone, Dad in 74, mom in 78, just been going through the old slides from way back, and now have a slide scanner. Just bringing back memories from so long ago. Back then, people made a living actually providing a place for families with kids to go to an amusement park on asmall budget. Nowadays the amusement parks that are around bleed you dry. I know some of it has to do with liability, but a lot has to do with greed. Back in the 60's, I went to a Catholic grade school, we would cross the border from NY into Canada and go to Crystal Beach Ontario for a day. $10 would buy you a hundred tickets to go on the various rides, and also could be used for food. 100 tickets is a lot to kill in a day. We pigged out, and rode everything until we could no longer walk! with Nuns as chaperones no less. This gasve us the opportunity to go into the town from the park and buy cigarettes and fireworks to bring back to the US with us. Hey, who would even question a busload of kids from a Catholic school? It was a much different time, a time of innocence.

Just south of Lake George, (I think it may be a Great Adventure now)not to be confused with Enchanted forest (still there) in Old Froge, or Catskill Game Farm.
Or the North Pole Village outside of White Face Mt. http://www.northpoleny.com/
