What an American icon and moment in time.
What from today will prove as timeless and become as scarce?

Right, WingNutz! Nielsen argued that he should have been doing comedy all along (though he'd done well in dramas). After seeing him and Priscilla Presley having "safe sex" in full-body condoms ... well, I could disagree with ol' Les there! LOL

Two big Yankee baseball stars pause for a photo-op with two
obscure fans. Left to right: Mickey Charles Mantle, Mary Ann
Kappelhoff, Archibald Alexander Leach and Roger Eugene
Maris. Great country back then! Commoners could get their
pix taken with baseball ROYALTY!!!

I think Mickey's middle name was Cochrane, after Mickey Cochrane.

There seem to be very few shots of Portland, forget about the 60's and 70's. I'm trying to remember, would the old Journal building be just South of the bridge?

I do think that "The Mick" helped Roger. Mickey made no pretense. When he came to the plate, he might not make the fence, BUT said he was gonna hit the hell out of it as hard as he could, every time. That's true.

I still have my Post baseball cards from that great time! (I didn't have money for the real thing, so I cut my BB cards out of Post cereal boxes! LOL)
