er, hu . . . "mildy customized" '50 Nash Rambler. Looks a tad like something out of "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," doesn't it? If they'd just painted it Plum Crazy Purple, they could have called it the People Eater! Sheb Wooley would have been proud! LOL
Should have stayed extinct and on the drawing board . . . it must have ESCAPED!!!

62OldsFan, you're almost right. It's a '39 LaFayette, not a regular Nash. '59Plym had thought the inscription said '42 Graham (hard to read). We hashed it out by PMs. Please see my Post #8327, as follows:
__________________________________________________ _____________________ Plym46, yup, I know what a Graham was. I just didn't take this car for a Graham. My first impression was a Nash or maybe one of the very last Lafayettes.

During the 50's & 60's you'd always see a race car at a gas station. Here is Del Quinn in front of Quinn's Signal Service Station, San Pablo, California. Del allowed me to letter some signs at his gas station and as a 15 year old here is where I got my career started hand painting signs. (Notice window lettering and small signs under Signal Lubrication) The next year I lettered my first race car (#16).

In front, and on race day being taken by open trailer of drawbar. Those two things did more to promote racing than we will ever know.

Margo 42 Spokane.
As in Washington. License plate is WA. Still don't know who Margo is. I joined just so I could comment on this thread. Great pics. Even saw Mt. Rainier earlier in one of the snow/lodge pics. |
