Tests of the new Armoured trucks of the Post Office Department at Fort Meyer today. The windows and wind shields are of bullet proof glass. This photo snaped [sic] at the moment of impact, plainly shows the fine splinters of flying glass, 12/1/21

Gee, why didn't they just test the bulletproof glass before they went to the trouble installing it in the truck? Publicity stunt maybe?

Why even the official captions on those old photos must be viewed with a critical eye. That is, of course, an M1911 in .45 ACP, not a .44 Colt
