King said in an interview that this photograph was taken as he tried to explain to his daughter Yolanda why she could not go to Funtown, a whites-only amusement park in Atlanta. King claims to have been tongue-tied when speaking to her. “One of the most painful experiences I have ever faced was to see her tears when I told her Funtown was closed to colored children, for I realized the first dark cloud of inferiority had floated into her little mental sky.”

I remember when "Sonny" (Sammy) Bono used to sit behind my girlfriend (now my wife) in English class in 1949.

Around '63-64, my girlfriend and I used to go to a club in Hollywood called The Purple Onion. We saw The Righteous Brothers there and the real Coasters and a couple of other great acts. Always sitting at a table in the back were Sonny and Cher in matching white outfits and both with jet back hair. Sonny's was done in a Caesar-like style and they were going by Caesar and Cleo at the time. The regulars seemed to know them but we never saw them perform. I remember Sonny was always saying stuff to her like "you are so great, baby!" That was before they had any hits.

It is a 37 not a 41, the plates are 1941, not the car. The 41 Packard had side grilles though.
