Ok, I know that we get a little outa hand, but the Rust Revival is only one weekend a year. No need to form an auxiliary police department.

92GTA, in my book, your dad is a hero in the finest sense of the word. He saw repeated combat firsthand and ven- tured his life, never shrinking from the battle at hand, never letting his comrads down. That he never wanted to discuss it is testament to how awful war can be. Many men I've known just wouldn't think of talking details in the context of family or "civilized" society. Every war has medal-win- ners and many, many more unsung heroes. Your dad was obviously a dedicate, uncomplaining hero and a man of the old school. |

Jimi, for every medal winner there are literally hundreds of acts of valor going un-noticed. Always remember it has to be an 'Officer' that recommends you for a medal. I know a few guys that should be wearing medals from the higher echelons of the award telly that wear nothing as the wrong person 'saw' their acts.
Doc.

LordAirGtar is right: Checker. The one below seems about '35/6
Model Y. For CABS, they had more than their fair share of style in the '20s and '30s, though SOME of the trim could get a tad garish! Funny, when most people TODAY only remember the bulbous Checkers that went from '56 to '82. Hey, WingNutz! I'm glad you posted that. I still swear that I saw an actual ad for one of the Willys Jeepsters with a frilly canopy like that! ![]() Though I've searched, I've NEVER seen it again, nor a real photo. Has ANYBODY seen a stock original Jeepster like that? If so, please post a pic so I know (or suspect) I'm not all that crazy! LOL

Gary, I just checked that, and it's a blast. Looks like Mardi Gras meets "Romancing the Stone'! LOL. Or, maybe they're the Philippine version of r--rods! Shudder! If nothing else, they're COLORFUL and useful. Problem was, I couldn't find any VINTAGE pix beyond the one by WingNutz, just more recent Jeepneys. Thanks for the "education" AND the laugh!

Me, I wondered about the 'Carson' looking top in the background and what was underneath it. A Merc? A 41 Ford? Something curvy I'm sure. In the pic the girls shoe kinda gives us a hint that this might be late 50's when we all enjoyed the sock hops. ...You know, there are so many pics in this thread that scream "American Graffiti". It's hard to deny that George Lucas Really hit the nail square on the head when he produced that Iconic movie. Quote:

I wonder if these guys are boasting up the 'push marks' on the grilles of their patrol cars. ...Officer Pusser seems to be making light of his bent up grille. "That particular dent is from when I pushed that damned pharmacists kid off the big curve on 7 bridges road" "Why Hell Yeah Buford, I remember that one, the kid rolled dam near 20 times down into the gorge" ![]() The movie 'the California Kid' was written about this kind of practice. I guess they still do it but today they call it 'The Pit Maneuver' and the practice is a little more controlled. ![]() I'm not sure if Buford Pusser 'went out' pushing bumpers or not, but the dents in an early cop cars grilles probably weren't from getting donuts, not saying that there's anything wrong with that .

A few more vintage ads just to make you sick (these appear to be circa 1965 or 66) ![]() ![]() ![]() Buy the Dean Moon Coupe know before it's gone... I wonder if he'll take $200 and a 56 Desoto in trade? ![]() .
