Default Long weekend, whadya get done?

Been kinda quiet here this weekend, I assume you guys were having fun and or working on your rods?!

Heres what I did. I got the front of the touring frame welded up, crossmember welded in, ready to take to a pals for the new rear kickup. I also laid back my chopped posts, banged a bunch of tin on the body, removed the rear seat riser for the kickup. I also filled in with belt sanding the bumps off my 348 manifolds.

I finished off tonight by helping my buddy Randy set his body mounts on his 31 Coupe. A good weekend!

Did some tuning on the Y-block in my 57 wagon to get it ready for GG @ Kansas City in a few weeks. Some welding to the "A" PU frame. And started reshingling the garage. Not a hunny-do all weekend!!!

Spend most of the weekend with my family, but a got a few hours shop time in today:
Cleaned up my 'bones:

They had the ugly spring hanger in the front, so I cut them off, and smoothed out the metal. I think they are 46-48 'bones...

Finally got time to get all that great Bonneville salt washed off my modified before there was only a frame left. Then got under my pickup to see what salt was left on it after a day of washing. Now i feel better, that by this time next year i still have something left to look at .It's nasty stuff to say the least. If your after the correct patina, then take it there, then let it sit under a leaky tarp when it's 75 degrees and raining.

p.s. that chopped top looks just right.

drilled 15 holes in the front axle, 5 in each wish bone, sleeved one, (drunk, but still welding), 2 cuts on my home build frame, some light body work, cleaned the garage. not as much as t-man, but i'm still figuring this shit out.

I worked on getting my y-block back in my 56 vert just to find out that the timing marks on the (hi tech super cool double roller chain timing set I got) were off 90 degrees so now I have a cool motor that suck through the exhaust and blows out the carb. Impresses the friends... Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed Well I guess I am gonna be tearing the frontend on the motor off and use the orginal timing set to get the correct marks. One of these days I will learn to check shit like this before I button the engine back together.

Suffered burn-out from thrashing the last few weeks for the HAMB drags so I didn't get much done at all...tried to visualize the finished truck. When that didn't work, I tried to map out a plan of action on the top chop...couldn't unblock the ol' brain to figure it out.. laid the radiator and the radiator shell out on the living room floor to see how much to trim off the shell...went in and watched the nascar race until I fell asleep...had to axe a friend who eventually won...
Cleaned the damn garage and visited everyone in my hood with a project going..
Dar with is 40 pontiac sedan and his 61 Catalina bubbletop:
Jamie with his 61 Olds ragtop, bantam with pinto power and 50 Prefect...but he was mocking up his 46 Harley with 88 cube aftermarket engine..
John with his 29 RPU [finished] and his latest project..a 30-31 coupe with no top and "dipped" doors....
Took my buddy, Tom, out to see my 53 stude coupe. he may wanna buy it. We ate lunch at a riverside cafe and got mooned and flashed by the drunk boaters cruising past on the river...The weather was magnificent ....sunny and low 70's.

This is actually my Friday night after a looong week. Haven't had a day off sonce I got my '57 Effie home from a shop (who took to long to basically get the motor fired up again).
Tried to finish unbolting the bed from the frame, to prep for paint, but the round bolts are rusted shut, will have to get a bolt cutter, tomorrow. Good thing I'd gotten a new bolt set, already.
Need to get it primered, which'll take some convincing to the landlady next door to our stingy townhouse complex (to use her area of land for the job).
I have too many lil' things to do with the motor, mostly with the carb. I've yet to successfully tame down the mad idle, since rebuilding it, and can't figure out why the wheels spin especially fast in Reverse.
I've had high-idle problems with other cars, but didn't have it transcend to the rear diff with as much force as now. Is there a vacuum connection I'm overlooking?
The vaccum tube between the back o' the Holley and the master cylinder is fine. Can't figure out what's wrong.
Anyway, happy to have it home, just riddled with motor probs.

I finally picked up the pieces for the front end of my Pontiac delivery. I am the proud owner of two completely RUST FREE front fenders for a 56 Pontiac, plus inner fenders, rad cradle, and a couple intake/exhaust manifolds with oil filters for 261's If everywhere else is like here, 55-6 pontiac fenders all rot out arond the headlights, and there are no real patch panels for them. I looked for 10 years for a set this nice. Not a bad score.

Got the rear cross member & trannie mount put in.
Hooked up the hydraulic clutch line and got the clutch bled.
Bled the brakes.
Got the speedo hooked up and working.

Well...Sunday and all day Monday my buddy and I took a flathead powered '51 Ford that had been stored for 20+ years (more like 30+) and made it run. For 5 seconds any way. We actually now have fuel pump problems and the latest theory is that we have a mouse nest in the intake. There is some funky shit going on with that motor. IT WILL RUN Dammit!

Straightened up the shop, removed the step bumper off the 61, cleaned off the frame all the old hangers, removed the pinion seal, cleaned the hood hinges, more paint work on my buddies 41 Willys frame, replaced the rear end in my racing mower, and got drunk and drove my daily 91 truck into a tree and then pulled the core support out to get the hood to latch.

Lit up the neighborhood with the new exhaust flames on the 37. Boy those things are fun, the best part is watching the faces. Installed a new starter in the 50 chevy pickup, adjusted the timing changed oil and greased and fixed a couple of minor nagging electrical problems. Yesterday was 2-1/2 inches of rain yuk!
