Steve, DOTD's has always been my favorite event! I'm glad it was Tuffy's first outing!

Richard, it was nothing to brag about. My goal for the first run was mostly to get a feel for Tuffy's launch and see how the brakes were going to do. My reaction time was .300 (The boys made fun of me) and my 60 foot time was 2.17 with 373 gears(The boys told me that was pretty good). I got out of it before the 1/8 mile - 10.26 and coasted onto the 1/4 at 16.4 (LOL) at a whopping 75 MPH. Even with that I wondered if I was going to be able to stop in time. Now it's time to practice.

Mark, it was great to me you and Paul. I've always been a fan of both your cars!

LOL, I wondered how long that would take. Next year were going to have cards for the judges. Pretty sure I got all 10's this year!

A lot of "muscle cars" ran 15s, if you let off before the 1/8th, and coasted to a 16 on the cherry popper, you should be haulin' ass once you're dialed in!

Any chance you will be at The Texas State Chapionship drag race on Oct 22nd? We will be down to race I would really like to see Tuffy in person. Also enjoyed the Little River pictures I attended my first drag race there in about 1967-68.

It is possible. I have one day off in a three week stretch and it happens to be Oct 22nd. I may just run over for the day.

He needs to go back to Norfolk - I would like to take Ron's grandson for a ride.

1968Fed - I'm not going to make it to the race this weekend. Someone changed their vacation so I have to work.

I'm picking up the generator this morning from the shop so I might get to play a little, but I promised to start on Tanya's 34 Pickup? Decisions, decisions!

Here is where I stopped on it. I think she has collected all the parts.

Kathy - If you decide to venture up this way, make sure you look me up! I would love to see Tuffy in person again (running and driving this time). I could probably even scare up a cold beer or two for ya!

I was noticing how close to the floor your pedals are.
I am building a 28 sedan now and wonder how it drives with them there
It's almostnlike you would have to use your heels to work them.
Is it workable like this?
Great job by the way with a nasty look from the back. Great stance on the rod!

Brian, for sure I will let you know! I have another project up my sleeve and will probably be using that "one off" blower piece you made for Ron!

Thanks, I did end up putting a couple of bends in the pedal legs to help raise them. That way I still retained the correct pedal ratio. I flipped the pads up which was already done in the pic you saw. I think I ended up with 4 1/2 inches of clearance at the lowest part of the swing? It hits my foot between the ball and arch but remember I am sitting on the floor so it is more of less just straightening out my leg and it feels good.

Thanks Danny! Still working through some bugs. Finally got the correct voltage regulator and the generator is now charging. Engine now sounds totally different. If all goes well, I will be driving Tuffy to Hot Rod Revolution in a couple of weeks! Look for an update soon!
