They built the 331" Chrysler in the brown '30 coupe that won the 2009 Good Guys "Hot Rod of the Year" and I'm thinking of having them do the machine work on my 354. Any comments- good, bad or otherwise??? Here's their website: http://blackmountainhemi.com/ Thanks in advance, Gary
never heard anything bad about them they have some hemis they sell on ebay, also their willys run strong at the track and sound awesome
I know him well. He knows the engines real good ... Great to deal with, has been doing early Hemis for over 25 years.
he has a nice adapter thats less expensive then anyone else and also i nice aluminon timing cover. has a boat load of parts. great guy to talk to on the phone or in person. going to get one of his adapters for my 315 real soon
I've met Carl and he definitely knows his hemi stuff. I've used his GM trans adapters which are top quality.
Always good to get a firm REFERENCE on a pretty darn unique service: Hemi building . . . AND from guys who know Hemis, like Tom W. does!
I HAVE TO SAY CARL KNOWS HIS HEMI'S.HE CAME THROUGH FOR ME WHEN I NEEDED HELP LOCATING A 392 BLOCK.GREAT GUY TO TALK TO ABOUT HEMI STUFF. QUALITY PARTS HERE. from the HEMI man
I can honestly say I've never heard anybody say anything bad about Carl or his engines/adapters. That is EXTREMELY rare! Great guy. Good prices. A lot of acquired knowledge with Carl. When we decided to race this 41 I told him that if we can't run with the best, I'm not interested. So far we've managed 8.90 @153 out of a stock stroke 392 in a very heavy BB/GSer, which is a bit faster than most of the true nostalgia AA/GSers. (except for my '33 which has acquired the nickname "matchless"! Right hemibill?! lol) Deal with Carl, you won't be sorry. Ken
Bumping this thread up, Gary. The more visibility the better the chance to find out what's up with Black Mountain. Good luck............Don.
I'm not far from Carl Bills. Tried some time ago to call & check web site. No response? Did we by chance lose our friend. I'm 73 & we're dropping like flies day by day. My cell 717.514.4350
Back in late 90s early 2000s @ Old Dominion there was a truck like pictured that would come down from Pa , street driven Mechanical injected on slicks , I think it had a stick , like 6:20s 1/8 ,,,,Truck was Silver Blue ish thoe ,
Carl did a great job rebuilding my 354 back in 2010. I tried to contact him in 2021; no response to either phone calls or emails.
Carl moved to New Holland Pa, built a shop behind his house, I have not tried to get hold of him at least 2 years.
